Usage

To tag a page as a redirect from a file page to an existing file page. This tag should only be used to track files which have been redirected. This tag allows tracking by registering redirect pages for Category:Redirects to files.

File pages or "empty" file pages are redirected to ensure that linking does not result in directing users to empty or deleted pages (especially from external linking).

The following conditions require attention regarding these special redirects:

  • Moving to a more appropriately named file. Such moves are sometimes needed for template consistency after files have been haphazardly uploaded to inconsistent names, or if the entity's name in-game changes significantly.
If the move command fails or cannot be completed, the page of the file to be redirected has to be deleted and the "empty" file page manually redirected to the desired file page.
Moves cannot be completed if the destination file page is already occupied, which occurs when editors wish to fix various issues quickly, tagging the older files for the process later.
Occasionally, move commands fail for unknown reasons.

Code

{{R to file}}

To add this tag to a file page, simply arrive at the file page itself and click:

  • The "create" tab if the file is "empty". Make sure this is not the upload interface.
  • The "edit" tab if the file has already been redirected, but is missing the tag. Make sure this is the redirect=no page, not the destination page.
