The Swarm is a type of dark energy found in the Shadow Lair.
Traits
The Swarm is the dreadful darkness that envelops the Shadow Lairs. Its power becomes more intense and tangible as Knights descend into its territory, and reaches its highest concentration in the Unknown Passage.
It can be perceived as a strange, black pixelated mist floating around, and it may become concentrated to the point of forming a strange source from which flows a dark essence. This is called a Swarm Seed.
Swarm Portal
A vicious swarm portal...
A small swarm portal that is used to resurrect fallen members of the swarm. It is more like a Grim Totem than an actual monster, and therefore it does not fall under a bracket. Any swarm-infected monster placed above these dark portals will have their defences increased until they are invulnerable.

A shadowy cloud that fires bullets. Currently more hazardous than a monster since it can't be damaged. It may evolve further in the future.
It offers absolutely no Crowns, Heat, Materials, or Vials, and (as part of The Swarm) they are invulnerable. Their defenses are enhanced on a Swarm Seed.

An unknown energy signal that interferes with the hud and disables the map.
