I've noticed that the more crowns I have on me at the time I first transact with Basil when I find him, the more higher-star-level recipes he seems to have for sale. One time I talked to him (all these cases are on level 12) while holding over 30k crowns, and his stock was mostly 4* recipes, with a small amount of 2* and 3* ones. The next time I was holding around 12k crowns (and had about 12k crowns in buy bids on the energy market), and he had mostly 2* recipes with a smaller number of 3* and 4* recipes. The most recent time, I was holding a bit over 20k crowns and he had about equal numbers of all recipes (six 2*, four 3*, seven 4*).

Perhaps this is just a coincidence, and more trials will show there to be no correlation, but I thought it was worth noting. All three times I was adventuring solo.--[[User:Scrotch|Scrotch]] 01:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

::Yeah, noticed it again yesterday.  Same duplicate of the Magic cloaks, so unless I have absurdly unusual luck, it seems to be a possibility only when that recipe pops up. ==0 Recipes In Stock==

It'd be really nice to know the exact conditions required to have the recipes in stock. From what I've heard, it has something to do with what depth you started on. For example, if you join at, say, the terminal itself, every recipe that appears will not be in stock. I'm never quite sure when to bring sufficient crowns. ::As I know it, you need to have joined no later than two floors above the terminal for Basil to offer his recipes. In tier three, if you join at D22, he will have nothing in stock. But if you join at D21, he will.--[[User:Gammeru|Gammeru]] 03:29, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Basil used to be present at each [[Subtown]] location, but not any more. When the Supply Depot was introduced, it replaced Basil at both Subtown locations.

Just found it a little strange that there's a detailed list of what he carries before missions, but no mention of the recipes available from Basil and Basil alone - after all, these are the main reasons behind "Basil runs" (and why he hasn't been replaced by HoH). Most of these seem like common knowledge among the longer-toothed knights in-game, but I've started compiling some recipes to update the page with.
