A knight may wear one shield at any given time. Like other equippable items, shields are usually crafted from recipes. However, shields can also be bought ready-made from Kragen in the Bazaar, and they are occasionally given as rewards for completing missions or collecting boss tokens.

A shield has health, damage defenses, and status defenses, just like a knight. When a shield is inactive, it has no effect; it does not passively protect the knight at all. When a shield is activated, it blocks all attacks from reaching the knight. As the shield absorbs an attack, it loses health. The amount of health lost is based on the damage and status content of the attack, compared to the damage and status protections of the shield. When the shield's health drops to zero, the shield is broken. The shield must regenerate, before it can absorb any more damage and status. List of Shield Reskins

A "reskin" is an item in its own right (it can have its own Unique Variants), but it mimics exactly the combat statistics of another item (assuming that neither have different unique variants, of course). It simply looks and perhaps animates in a different manner. Depending on the item, reskins can be obtained via crafting or as a random prize from a Prize Box.
