Description
Fire is a status condition that causes periodic damage to the victim. The damage is of type Normal, rather than Elemental. (The pips are red, not green. Experiments with Normal-resistant, non-Elemental-resistant armor confirm that such armor lessens damage from the fire status.) Fire-resistant armor and trinkets reduce the chances and duration of the fire status. Once alight, a player cannot avoid the damage, even by shielding, until the fire status wears off, or a Remedy Capsule is used. Offensive vials can be broken if a burned knight tries to toss one while taking fire damage, wasting them without managing to throw them. It is also possible remove the fire status by throwing a water orb at a nearby object, found in the Firestorm Citadel.
Oil Slicks
Oil slicks dropped by Oilers or Oil Jars can catch fire. They become a temporary floor hazard if set on fire, and burn up after several seconds. Oil slicks can be set on fire by...
- Ground-based fire attacks from other enemies (Gremlin Scorchers, Red Rovers, Salamanders)
- A flaming Oiler's attack
- Adjacent flaming oil slicks
- A tick of fire damage on a player who was standing on the oil slick
- A fire jar
As such, an unprepared party can quickly be overwhelmed by a few Oilers and a Red Rover or misplaced Fiery Vaporizer.
Map Hazards
Fire Grates and Shadow Fire are stationary hazards which can cause fire status.
Themed Enemies
Fire-themed enemies are immune to and may inflict fire status.
- Ash Tails
- Cinderbots
- Firebranders
- Firo Knights
- Gremlin Scorchers
- Scorchers are not immune to but can inflict fire.
- Oilers
- Oilers cannot spread fire without outside help, but drop oil slicks which can be lit up to create temporary floor hazards, and spread fire status by attacking and are healed when burned. Freeze douses their flame.
- Pepperkats
- Red Rovers
- Rocket Puppies are not immune to but can inflict fire.
- Redwards
- Ruby Greavers
- Salamanders
- Slag Walkers
- Lord Vanaduke
Inflicting Fire
Spiral Knights can inflict fire on monsters by using fire vials against them, throwing fire vases, and using a weapon that has a chance of inflicting fire.
Weapons that are able to inflict fire are:
- Hot Edge and upgrades
- Fireburst Brandish and upgrades
- The Fireburst Brandish lines can only inflict fire with the charge attack.
- Flamberge and upgrades
- Fang of Vog
- Firotech Alchemer and upgrades
- Pepperbox and upgrades
- Firecracker
- Fiery Vaporizer and upgrades
