Shankles are a type of monster found in the Clockworks. They deal damage on contact, but the exact kind of damage varies based on the stratum.

Traits

Until they reveal their weak point, Shankles resemble a cross between stone slabs and exaggerated pincushions; when they reveal their weakpoint, it can be seen that they resemble a Slime family monster with a liquid consistency. Gold Shankles do not stop or reveal their weakpoint, making them impossible to kill.

Shankles will always follow a set path and do not target or follow players. They also drop nothing other than hearts and Vitapods.

The damage type Shankles inflict depends on the type of Shankle, and (except for Gold Shankles) can readily be told by its color. Wisps are the status-inflicting counterpart of Shankles.

Types

Golden Dark Shankle

Golden Sage Shankle

Golden Sharp Shankle

Strategy

With the exception of Golden Shankles, Shankles that are destroyed have a chance of dropping hearts and a smaller chance of dropping Vitapods. When you clear out an area and are low on health, it's best to head back to a previous area which contain Shankles, and destroy them to obtain some health; otherwise, unless they are extremely inconvieniently placed, Shankles can be safely ignored.

Trivia

  • For unknown reasons, Knights may sometimes can find Wisps and Shankles stuck in the middle of its normal path and will still deal damage if players touch them, but will never expose their weak point to kill them.
