A Blossom Aura in the Overworld.

An Aura is an accessory that can be attached to the "Armor Aura" slot via Bechamel. Depending on the aura, this accessory can add a variety of Special Effects to a player's appearance, such as glowing, shedding, trailing, and so on. Some auras affect more parts of the body than others (leafy aura will put leaves on the body and head), but most effects are isolated to the chest area. Many entities in the game have their own aura-like effects, such as the dust that comes off of Zombies.

List of Auras

Several of these items have shown up in one or more Supply Depot Sales.

Click the image in the "Overworld" column to see an animation of that aura.

Notes

Prismatic Aspect: use the "CTRL+F" keyboard function and search for "Prismatic" to find auras which have prismatic properties.

Some auras with glowing effects can be seen through certain solid objects (like wall hiding the hidden path in D27 of Firestorm Citadel).

Bugs/glitches: The Twilight Aura is designed to be trailing, but currently only one firefly is not locked to the player's movement. No pun intended.

Some milestones:

The Sprinkle Aura was the first aura to be available from two entirely different prize boxes (Anniversary and Gourmet).
The Soaked Aura was the first aura to have its own audio noises.
The Grasping Aura was the first aura to be "earned" via gameplay.

According to Nick, the Unclean Aura is a reference to the game "Deadly Premonition"; the main character would attract flies if he did not change his suit for a period of time. In spiral there seems to be a set amount of flies around, but in the aforementioned game, the main character would start off with one insect, and then they could grow into a swarm. [1]

The Soaked aura's icon art is very similar to the icon art for Sunshine Aura, despite the soaked aura being rather damp. This is probably to maintain the "fun in the sun" attitude of the Splash Promo.

Other Entities with Auras:

Many Red Rovers have visual effects similar to the Flame Aura.

The Love Puppy seems to have a Love Aura.

The character Biscotti seems to have a Sprinkle Aura.

The Hacked Aura is similar to the effects seen right before the final fight in the Ghosts in the Machine prestige mission. These glitchy effects seem to flee as the player approaches.

The Blossom Aura is similar to the visual effects seen around the Big Nature Sprite located in depth 25 of the Firestorm Citadel.

Water Fountains throughout the Firestorm Citadel also have some of these effects.

The Battle Sprite Seraphynx (Black Kat) obtains a Dreadful Aura if the Disintegration Ray ultimate is chosen (on the Sprite, the aura has no trailing effects).

Acquisition:

These items are usually available as a "rare" from prize boxes, yet many have shown up in the Supply Depot and Featured Auction House. Thus, availability of these items is rather transient (and sometimes difficult to state officially, as with the Twilight Aura or other items from lockboxes that have also shown up on the Featured Auction House many times, and then not again since).

If these items are desired, it would be prudent to frequently check these places: News Blog, Admin Forum Posts, the Auction House, and the Supply Depot.
