The Gloaming Wildwoods is a region. Regions categorize levels with similar characteristics that have been incorporated into the Clockworks.

Description

Spiral Knights recruits are advised to avoid this dark and misty forest until they are experienced with the dangers of the Clockworks. The Gloaming Wildwoods is home to packs of vicious beasts, the worst of all being the mythical Snarbolax. Said to be a 'living shadow', the Snarbolax prefers the taste of prey that had been in a state of terror before death and will often mercilessly harass its victims before delivering the final blow. — Gate Icons

Characteristics

Each level map is fixed.

Several levels of this region are always a permanent feature of one of the arcade gates. Their presence in an arcade gate is indicated by green tree icons and their location is always in tier 1.

Levels are populated by multitudes of Wolvers. Several Dust Zombies, Chromalisks, Constructs, and Silkwings make appearances. Monster Cages tend to cause an even greater variety in monster population. A boss known as the Snarbolax is encountered in Lair of the Snarbolax.

Large dark trees seem to support its shadowy levels, from which thick vines hang down into the depths. An ominous roar is occasionally heard echoing in the darkness as the player makes their way through puzzling paths. Tech Knights have placed Beast Bells around the woods, which will stun any beast within range when struck.

The background is obscured in darkness.

Similar terrain can be seen in the Interface-icon-PvE.png Event Mission: March of the Tortodrones.

Notes

A version of the Gloaming Wildwoods has been "infected" as a Shadow Lair, featuring a similar group of levels and monsters with a poison theme.

A Recon Module left by Euclid can be found in the treasure room after defeating this region's boss.
