Crowns are the basic unit of money on Cradle. You can earn crowns by two methods: adventuring and helping to build gates. The number of crowns that you have can be found in the upper right side of your Spiral Knights screen under the minimap.
Crowns are used for:
- Elevator fees when going directly to Moorcroft Manor or Emberlight to adventure
- Crafting items
- Paying for items and recipes from vendors or Auction Houses
- Listing fee in Auction Houses
- Obtaining unique variants from Punch
- Purchasing crystal energy using the Energy Depot
- Sending in game mail to other players
Finding Crowns while Adventuring
Crowns can be found down in the Clockworks that you reach by taking the gate elevators. While adventuring, you will find crowns on the levels, as well as crowns dropped by killing monsters. You pick up crowns by walking near them. If there is more than one knight in your party, all the knights will receive the same number of coins. There are five different denominations of crowns:

Knights will find minerals while adventuring that can used them to help with gate construction. Contributing minerals to a gate can give you a small payout of crowns, usually, the default five crowns per mineral.
