Sick of all the pretty lights when using bombs? Do bombers bomb flashes annoy the ever living daylights out of you? Well it just so happens that I can fix that. Follow these simple instructions and remove that annoying bright flash from Nitronome, the obnoxious spikes from DBB, and just about every large flash bomb.

• WINDOWS
• STEP 1

Locate the explosions folder from the "spiral knights" root folder

...\spiral knights\rsrc\particle\explosion

• STEP 2

Right click inside the explosion folder and create a new text document. Now open the text document and copy pasta this text inside of it.

REN bomb_areaexplosion.dat bomb_areaexplosion_orig.dat
REN bomb_snarbarb.dat bomb_snarbarb_orig.dat
REN part_bomb_areaexplosion.dat part_bomb_areaexplosion_orig.dat
copy /b royalconsume_vortex.dat bomb_areaexplosion.dat
copy /b royalconsume_vortex.dat bomb_snarbarb.dat
copy /b royalconsume_vortex.dat part_comb_areaexplosion.dat
exit

• STEP 3

Now you need to go file/SAVE AS and name the file "bombfix.bat" (without quotes) and save it.

• STEP 4

Now run your newly created "bombfix.bat" file ONE TIME and it will swap out the large flashy screen-hindering blasts with what looks to be a simple breeze.

• STEP 5

If you did this while SK was running, close SK and relaunch it. The settings will take place, and it will remove that awful brightness from blast bombs. Enjoy!

Are you sick of getting pwned by lag or just want your game to run smoother? I have a few minor tweaks you can do to your game to lighten up the load the game puts on your computer.

• STEP 1

Navigate to your root SK folder

• STEP 2

Go to these folders and simply add "test" to the end of each of the folder names(ex "scheme_high test").

...\spiral knights\rsrc\particle\scheme_high
...\spiral knights\rsrc\particle\scheme_low
...\spiral knights\rsrc\particle\skybox
...\spiral knights\rsrc\lights
...\spiral knights\rsrc\world\skybox

• STEP 3

If you made these changes while SK was running, restart SK to get the reduction in graphics. You can experiment by removing files from the game that only add a little bit of glamor to the game, that don't really do much to the game mechanics to enhance your gameplay on a low end machine.
