Menders are the most common [[Gremlin]]s found in the Clockworks. Wielding [[Wrench Wand]]s and barking their trademarked, "Mending!" battle cry, they will stop nothing to heal their companions to continue the fight. Menders are an agile breed, dodging and keeping clear of knight's swings, bombs, and bullets. Menders are also known to expand their clientele of cohorts outside their own race. A knight should never be surprised to find these Gremlins aiding to other [[monster]] families. In deeper tiers, Menders become more aware of a knight's presence and will flee accordingly. Gremlin Menders are a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Menders are the most widespread Gremlins found in the Clockworks, being found in most areas that lack silkwings (the two do not seem to be capable of spawning in the same room, fortunately). Wielding Wrench Wands and barking their trademarked, "Mending!" battle cry, they will stop nothing to heal their companions to continue the fight. Menders are an agile breed, dodging and keeping clear of knight's swings, bombs, and bullets. Menders are also known to expand their clientele of cohorts outside their own race. A knight should never be surprised to find these Gremlins aiding to other monster families. In deeper tiers, Menders become more aware of a knight's presence and will flee accordingly. They also will gain the ability to heal surrounding foes in a single burst that knocks knights away, create runes to heal all monsters who step onto it, generating healing shield for themselves if they are nearing their own demise, and even reviving their fallen gremlin comrades!

Gremlin Menders cannot directly inflict damage, but can keep healthy monsters who can.

Types

Tenderfoot Mender

Ironclaw Mender

Darkfang Mender

Strategy

  • Menders are exceptionally powerful, with the ability to heal hundreds of hit points worth of damage in quick succession. If you are adventuring alone, it is strongly advised that you kill the Menders before turning to other units, as it may not be possible to deal damage fast enough to counter the healing spells otherwise.
  • When in a party and fighting a group of enemies accompanied by a Mender, have someone deal damage to the other monsters. The mender will stay put casting his healing spells instead of moving or dodging and will become an easy target.
