Fire tick count inconsistency

This confuses me. I'm not sure what to do. In some places, 3 fire damage ticks are done. In others, 4 and even 5 are done. What should I do? Here is the table:

D9 = 3 ticks to gremlins
D12= 3 ticks to gremlins
D12= 4 ticks to constructs
D14= 5 ticks to neutrals (forget which enemy exactly)
D14= 4 ticks to slimes
D17= 5 ticks to slimes

All monsters have their own fire resistance therefore the numbers of ticks they take differs. For the damage table I would say after the fire damage numbers put "x3"or whatever the number of ticks is--Trying 04:11, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
