Furniture - Armero Machine List
Thought about using an alchemy-machine style list, but figured larger visuals might be better. If people think a standard alchemy machine list should be used, bear in mind that the furniture items don't follow typical crafting terminology like "tier" and so on, so a modified template would need to be coded. Have fun being helpful! -Novaster 04:49, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Rewrite
I recently rewrote this entire page. Now Novaster has rewritten it again, which is okay. Most of the changes are good. For example, Armero should be on a separate page. And the pictures of boss statues are very welcome. And I can tell that the big chart took a lot of work.
However, the crux of this page is: How many boss materials (Schemer Scrap, etc.) do I need to make the statues? That opinion is supported by the very high prices that the boss materials command on the Auction House. This information can be found in the big chart, but not very clearly. It is also important for this page to clarify the confusing terminology of Jelly Gem vs. Jelly Gem (furniture), etc.
So I would like to see the new chart of boss statues integrated with the old chart of boss statues, which made it clear how tokens become materials which become furnitures. Jdavis 09:25, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- Feel free to put your own economic guide in there. There's more than one way to grind away the days, as I'm sure you know - I've seen your treasure hunting work. Your guide style would be of value here. -Novaster 09:42, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- Took some stuff out of the tables - wiki standard stuff. Now the page should be about the room itself, with lots of links to all the stuff it enables/unlocks and so on.-Novaster 04:52, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
Okay: this room page is now about the "Hunter's Lodge" room itself. It has lots of links to the stuff it unlocks, while following a general Room page format (this format was made as part of a larger project - many rooms did not have their own pages) and the general template format of the rest of the Wiki. This room's page didn't take much tweaking, and had great information on it already. It just needed some polish. Or however you want to visualize the change. Anyway, it should feel pretty slick now. As always, editors: edit if you feel it can be improved. Let's hope we can just "plug 'n chug" if they ever release more craft-able trophies/boss trophies.

Trophy Recipes
Hmm, let's not have the details in the table like that. It's not the purpose of a typical table. If anything, the Armero Alchemy Machine just needs its own page like other alchemy machines. It's noted above the table that users should click on the images to go to the page with that trophy's details. -Novaster 04:42, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- As I posted on the relevant Wiki Editors thread, I think that too much fragmentation is occurring. We risk having too many tiny wiki articles, each with very little information. I favor density of information --- meaning that a reader can come to a wiki page and quickly learn all of the most important information.
- I don't understand why the boss trophies are still listed at Hunter's Lodge, if the page is just about the room. Aren't they more closely related to the Armero Alchemy Machine, than to Hunter's Lodge? And the alchemy machine page presumably already describes them in the detail you want. So should they just be removed from Hunter's Lodge entirely, according to your view? Jdavis 07:32, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Edit: Wikipedia's policies are fairly well-designed, so we should consider them, even if we don't exactly adopt them. And Wikipedia policy is that related articles can and should overlap in their coverage, so that readers can make connections among the articles. In other words, there is certainly no policy that each fact is covered in exactly one article. Jdavis 07:38, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm, it was an effort to compromise, but it could be better. Should the visual list be moved to the Armero Alchemy Machine's page, or simply removed all-together?
Fragmentation vs. Condensing: It's more following the standards that are present in the rest of the Spiral Knights Wiki. There might one day be another place for this alchemy machine (highly unlikely) - so it would need its own page then, so why not follow the sort of invisible pattern now? There's not a ton of tiny pages anyway, there's about...3. The Room, Armero (Knight), and the Machine. Individual trophy pages are of course there, but that's because any item that has its own recipe has its own page - used to be only gear that had recipes.
I'm all for condensing things on the wiki. I worked extensively with furniture to do that. But there's some things that are just too large and too much of their own thing. Where do we draw the line?
One thing I'd like to condense are all the pages people made for the Sprite Abilities. Just search "firebolt" to see what I mean. -Novaster 07:49, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
