A true Giveaway is an occurrence in Spiral Knights that is associated with major updates and events. Items are given "absolutely free" to players, usually randomly during the occurrence, with no other strings attached, such as an energy purchase and so on. Simply logging in during the occurrence (rank does not seem to matter) makes a knight eligible for prizes. A few unusual giveaways do not follow this behavior, and some even occur unannounced.
List of Repeated Giveaways
- Birdsong Trading Co. - typically in celebration of the New Year during Winterfest.
List of One-Time Participation Giveaways
- Early Access Weekend - in association with the Preview Event. Featured Groundbreaker gear.
- Companion Prize Box - a single "participation giveaway" occurrence associated with the release of Battle Sprites.
- Gift of Autumn - given to players who logged in during November 26th - December 4th in 2013. In later years, this trinket was randomly available via Gobble Snipe Box.

- Parrying Blade Example - various MMO websites had "Black Friday" codes for certain parrying blades.
- Feedback Giveaway - Solstice Prize Boxes were given away.
- Bombs and UV tickets - due to large changes in certain bomb mechanics, Unique Variant Tickets were given away depending on the bombs present in a player's arsenal.
- Experimental Giveaway - "from the skylark" to random accounts.
