History

Inside Joke is a multi-game clan, generally regarded as a "gaming community" founded by Mr-Schism in October, 2008. Inside Joke was initially two dead clans merging to become one functional group. Through time, Inside Joke has spread to over a dozen games and has had over 1000 unique members). At it's peak, Inside Joke had over 450 members spanning 7 games, making it a formidable group. Today, it stands with a small core unit and many transient members.

Inside Joke's core unit is located in Southwest Florida, United States and is comprised of primarily college students.

Objectives

Inside Joke exists for the sole purpose of having fun. With some members being professional-level gamers, the push for serious competitive gameplay is often left by the way-side.

There is, however, an expectation of maturity. Maturity makes it so that everyone can handle everyone else. Of course, there's no real restrictions on jokes, so long as they come from a place of humor and not hate.

We believe that you can play clean (no hacking, glitching, or cheating) while not playing fairly. We don't ask members to play fairly, only cleanly.

Membership Requirements

The following aspects are absolute requirements:

  • Be mature. This means displaying respect, honesty, and modesty.
  • Communicate. Use at least one method of communication. See Communication for more details on how to communicate properly.
  • Acknowledge our alliances. Allied guilds should be treated as though an extension of our guild... with some exceptions.
  • Play clean in all games. We don't want cheaters/hackers/glitchers.
  • Have fun. This is a game. While some members play games for a living, they don't want the stress in their off-time.

Communication

Members are expected to communicate effectively. This means many things, depending on how you opt to communicate.

Communication Methods:

  • Text: Using in-game text is probably the easiest way of communicating. By using in-game text, everyone gets the opportunity to communicate as needed, be it in a party or guild-wide. Should you use text, please be sure to be respectful. We don't mind profanity in guild, just make sure that it's not excessive.
  • Steam Voice: Steam's voice function is conveniently integrated into the game for people playing via steam. Not all players get the advantage of being able to hear the conversation; people not in the party and people not using steam cannot hear.
  • Dolby Axon: While many clans and guilds rely on TeamSpeak or Ventrilo for voice communication, we opt to use Dolby Axon. It's free and has many advantages over TeamSpeak and Ventrilo. Obviously, anyone who doesn't have the client can't join in on the conversation.
