Jellies or Jelly cubes are a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Jelly cubes are seemingly harmless, gelatinous and bouncy cubes that appears from the start, in the Crash Site. In Tier 1, they are as harmless as their looks would suggest, but gains an often-missed Thorn Attack in Tier 2 and onward, making it far more dangerous. This family of monsters is also home to 2 of the game's bosses, the Royal Jelly (often called the Jelly King), and the Ice Queen.

Strategy

  • Part of the reason why Jellies are such a challenge in later tiers is down to the fact that they are one of the few monsters in the game to never "face" who they are aggressing against, as they are always facing towards the screen. Because of this, a Jellies' movements are often difficult to predict regarding who the Jelly is aggressing against, especially when they are about to use their standard tackle attack or when surrounded by them while in a Team.
    • Before a Jelly uses its tackle attack, it will track your Knights movements before lunging forward. The easiest way to avoid this is to shield, hit it with any form of knock back (the third strike on any 3-strike sword, heavy swords, charge attacks or shield-bumps) or to simply keep strafing away from it.
    • However when dealing with a large group of Jellies this may be a little more difficult - so it may be a good idea to keep them walking in a straight line, or in a circle around a large area. The Brandish swordline's charge attacks are particularly effective against a large group, as the sword swing and explosions will push them back and deal multiple hits of damage.
  • In T2 and T3, Jellies gain the ability to use a Thorn attack under a Knight's feet (which complements the thorns they gain in these levels), which are often slightly difficult to spot. However, this thorn attack leaves the Jelly open to close-range attacks.
  • Royal Minis and Jelly Green Minis can be a true nightmare if you allow them to build up their numbers. A mini jelly swarm can individually deal a relatively large amount of damage for their size, in addition to being able to block your movement, your attacks, charge attacks, as well as easily breaking your shield if all attack at once. Thankfully, due to their incredibly low amount of health, a good sword will make easy work of them.
