For each sword, at each level of CTR, the table shows the average combos per minute (rounded to the nearest half-integer). To see the individual measurements that produce the average, view the source code for the table. By the way, there is large variation in the Fang of Vog data, because some tests involve a lot of self-fire, which partially resets the charge timer.

The table is currently fairly empty, because we are in the process of collecting new data. For more complete, but less useful, data, see the Old Data and Analysis section below.

Also, Gran Faust charges more slowly than Divine Avenger. The same trend is apparent, to a lesser degree, in our combos per minute data. However, Gran Faust has a longer speed bar than Divine Avenger. So our data confirm that those speed bars are incorrect.

The image at right shows the effect of CTR on charges per minute. Each sword's CTR data are plotted as a sequence of points. Each point represents one level of CTR and the next level of CTR. For example, Leviathan Blade's data (17, 18, 19, 21, 22.5) plot at the four points (17, 18), (18, 19), (19, 21), and (21, 22.5). The best-fit line of the form ''y'' = ''m'' ''x'' has slope ''m'' = 1.07054. Thus each level of CTR increases charges per minute by roughly 7%.

When our data are more complete, we will analyze the speedup from each level of CTR.

It is important to keep in mind that charges per minute measure not just the time required to charge the sword, but also the time required to unleash the charge. For example, Dread Venom Striker charges very rapidly, but its charges per minute are relatively low, because the charge takes so long to execute. Similarly, Warmaster Rocket Hammer's charge time is comparable to that of many other swords, but its charges per minute are low, because the charge takes so long.

The data in this section were collected before the user interface was changed to include a "charge bar". The charge bar makes optimal timing of charges easier and more reproducible. So these data are systematically lower than the data above. We keep them here, because more levels of CTR are represented in these data, than in the data above.

Some remarks:

* Based on the data so far, each level of CTR increases the charges per minute by 4%-10%, with a geometric mean of 6.3%.

* Wild Hunting Blade charges 10%-20% more slowly than does Dread Venom Striker. This has been confirmed by Bopp's retesting of both swords, and it may also be true for [[Lancer Knightz (Guild)/Sword_Combos_Per_Minute|combos]].

Revision as of 16:58, 10 November 2013

This page is part of the Lancer Knightz data collection project. The data here measure the charge speed of various swords. These data were collected by Bopp (where marked with B) and Donkeyhaute. The data show that each level of charge time reduction (CTR) increases the charge rate by about 7%.

Procedure

Only 5-star swords are tested. All tests are performed at ASI+6, because ASI has a small effect on charges per minute. The tester sets a one-minute timer, executes charge attacks for a minute straight, and records the count and the CTR level. The test is repeated until it seems to settle on an answer. All results (not just the average) are reported to Donkeyhaute.

Data

For each sword, at each level of CTR, the table shows the average combos per minute (rounded to the nearest half-integer). To see the individual measurements that produce the average, view the source code for the table. By the way, there is large variation in the Fang of Vog data, because some tests involve a lot of self-fire, which partially resets the charge timer.

Swordcharges.png

The image at right shows the effect of CTR on charges per minute. Each sword's CTR data are plotted as a sequence of points. Each point represents one level of CTR and the next level of CTR. For example, Leviathan Blade's data (17, 18, 19, 21, 22.5) plot at the four points (17, 18), (18, 19), (19, 21), and (21, 22.5). The best-fit line of the form y = m x has slope m = 1.07054. Thus each level of CTR increases charges per minute by roughly 7%.

Gran Faust charges much more slowly than Divine Avenger. The same trend is apparent, to a lesser degree, in our combos per minute data. However, Gran Faust's item information displays a longer speed bar than Divine Avenger. So our data confirm that those speed bars are incorrect.

Also, Wild Hunting Blade charges more slowly than Dread Venom Striker. (This trend has been confirmed by Bopp's retesting of both swords.) The same trend is apparent in our combos per minute data.

Old Data

The data in this section were collected before the user interface was changed to include a "charge bar". The charge bar makes optimal timing of charges easier and more reproducible. So these data are systematically lower than the data above. We keep them here, because more levels of CTR are represented in these data, than in the data above.

This section also includes movement speed data. To collect such data, the tester goes to the train platform on the west side of Moorcroft Manor, with no movement speed increase or decrease. The tester runs from the north end of the platform to the south end three times, with the sword charged. The average of the three times is shown in the Dash column. When not charging a weapon, this dash takes a baseline 6.8 seconds. The Penalty column shows how much longer than baseline the observed dash time is; it's a measure of how much charging the sword slows down the user.
