Most Materials are used in crafting. They are also used to complete several rank and prestige missions. A few have unique functions and are not used in crafting.

Notes

Most materials are acquired randomly while adventuring in the Clockworks, obtained as monster drops, treasure box drops, or prizes in the prize wheel. Higher-ranked materials have a better chance of dropping on deeper levels of the Clockworks. Here is a general outline (not a strict list) of where to find materials of each star rating.

Certain materials are also sold or only sold by Brinks, Sullivan or other vendors in exchange for tokens. Most materials can be freely traded between knights, and hence can be sold in the Auction House. Some materials are much more valuable than others of the same star level, due to their rarity or their use in crafting popular items. Unwanted materials can also be sold to vendors for small amounts of crowns:

Sprite Food Materials

All materials can be used as food for your Battle Sprite. Specifically, Sprite Food are favored items to feed your battle sprite. Depending on your sprite and its level, these favored items can increase your sprite's heat much more than other materials and are almost always necessary to level up a sprite once its heat meter is full.

Unless specified otherwise, all sprite food can be crafted via the Sprite Food Alchemy Machine using minerals and other materials for a small price and are unbound when crafted. Some sprite food are rewarded after completing certain Missions but are bound when obtained.
