A knight carrying a piece of Luminite.

Minerals are large chunks of valuable material that are used to construct new gates for use in exploring The Clockworks.

Obtaining Minerals

Large crystal deposits containing chunks of mineral appropriate for collection can be found throughout The Clockworks. Once located, these deposits can be smashed by any weapon to produce a mineral piece small enough to be carried on a knight's back. A knight can carry one such mineral chunk at a time and it will be safely deposited into one's Arsenal once the level has been completed. Not only that, but if there are multiple knights in a party, everyone will get their own piece of every mineral that has been collected by the party. Prospecting with friends has its benefits!

Mineral Types

There are five types of mineral that are commonly found in The Clockworks, each associated with a particular color and type of power. Using different combinations of mineral in gate construction will produce wildly different sets of levels, so experiment!

Crimsonite

Crimsonite appears to be a blazing red color and is said to contain echoes of the passion, anger and strength possessed by the creatures surrounding where it forms. Small pieces of crimsonite are used to craft swords and equipment with an affinity towards fire.

Moonstone

Moonstone is a brilliant blue and is thought to contain the collective knowledge of all the worlds found within The Clockworks. Bits of moonstone are used to craft energy guns and equipment with an affinity towards electricity.

Deposits of Moonstone and Dark Matter.

Valestone

Valestone generally takes on a vibrant green hue and is rumored to contain the essence of all natural life. Valestone shards are used to craft equipment with an affinity to ice.

Luminite

Luminite is a radiant, golden color and and is said to embody the faith, wisdom and zeal of the creatures surrounding where it forms.

Dark Matter

Dark Matter manifests as an ominous purple crystal and is said to contain the essences of both chaos and nothingness. Dark Matter is typically associated with evil, death and demons.

Alloys

Alloys are special types of mineral that can be crafted at Alchemy Machines. Rather than simply helping their construction along, adding Alloys to a gate currently being built will apply special effects to the gate's final form.

Currently, the only known type of Alloy is the Dusk Drop, which will weigh the mineral tray to which it is added to the bottom of the stack. In practical terms, this causes the most recently added minerals to be used to construct the levels that'll be found at the very bottom of the newly constructed gate. Dusk Drops require an appropriate recipe, and are synthesized from one mineral of every type (1 Crimsonite, 1 Moonstone, 1 Valestone, 1 Luminite and 1 Dark Matter).
