These are all around for whoever wants to make a template for types of accessories. And a bunch of pictures. And I also think it's a good idea to have this page as a jump page to types of accessories, instead of individual pages for each color variation. Magnus 02:57, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Spiral Spy?

I found this program called spiral spy by googling it, you can view almost all items and models from ingame using it. First of all, I was wondering if this was even allowed, second, if it is allowed, maybe it should be used as the default thing to take screenshots of accessories, since it displays a plain white character and a blank grid background. Could someone shed some light on this?

The wiki is currently sticking with documenting the game by using in-game images. You can feel free to use the Spiral Spy program for your personal use though. --Equinox 23:04, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Fixed a bit on the parrying blades

Added Fancy, and one of the links or something was broken, don't remember. Should all be fixed now.

Accessory images, data gathering and template

Data gathering is going on over at User talk:Vagueabond.

For accessory images, I'm guessing it depends on the accessory what screenshot angles are useful. Some will probably need front view and side view. Please do appropriately crop your image. When things are figured out more/found in game, I may take the time to do standardized screenshots using something known like simple proto gear.

Accessory pages should use Template:AccessoryInfo. The template also contains how you should name the images to keep with the image naming standard for all other equipment. We can figure out how to do the accessory pages when the images/information have been gathered. Likely just a gallery of all the types would be good. --Equinox 16:38, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Equinox, that sounds amazing (the standard screenshots).
The one thing I'm unsure of at the moment is which colour set should get to be in the infobox - do we want this to be uniform, or should it be spread out/assorted over all pages?

--Vagueabond 16:54, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

I'd think that we could just pick the one that makes the accessory more obvious to see (best contrast or whatever)? --Equinox 17:01, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
The way I've set it up is so each color/type of the accessory gets its own section and infobox. Also, the template had a small error, it was Equipment-x-Equipped while all the other armor and weapon images were x-Equipped so I changed it for consistency. I also agree with the removal of the notes section from the template. ~Katmint 18:38, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
For the infobox, the "location" can go into the notes. That's also potentially a spot to put in notes about what kinds of helmets it works with. Sections sounds fine for now. I'm actually thinking a table would work the best in the long run because there isn't much info for each separate piece and a table would allow for having both the icon and the equipment image. --Equinox 18:43, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh okay, didn't think of that purpose for the notes. A table sounds good too, there's a lot of empty space in the section format. ~Katmint 18:47, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
If that's the case for the Notes, I believe you should just rename Notes to Attaches To, or something along those lines. The actual description for accessories are fairly identical across each and everyone one, so it would just eat up space. It would be better to just put it as some general note on this general page. Obscure 20:43, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Infoboxes are for the quick at a glance bits about the subject of the article. It's not meant to replace content in the article itself. Also, since there may be other notes about the accessory such as what kind of equipment it can be used on, I'm leaving it until more is figured out about accessories. So until it is determined that "location" is the only information about accessories, it will stay as Notes. --Equinox 20:47, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
It is. I've had a lot of accessories pass through my hands for wiki images already. That's the only usable information on them. And to top it off, if we were to do information like on Mecha Wings, it would be silly to say 'Attaches to the side of head' on each one. It should be general page information. I think the best possible template design would actually be a collage of images with general info at the top. In fact, that's what the Notes could be. Obscure 20:52, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
If you read the above discussion, I'm intending there to be a single infobox on each page with a table showing the variations in the article. --Equinox 20:57, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm a skimmer. Obscure 21:46, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Image Names

Seems like 99% of images uploaded showing accessories have poorly formatted names that don't fit the template. Someone needs to move/rename them.--SpiralMike 23:02, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

There's no way to move images to a new name, they just have to be reuploaded under the new name. Feel free to edit the page of the "old" image location and mark it as {{delete}} and I'll take care of that. This kind of thing is just a fact of wiki life when there's an influx of a large number of things needing screenshots and new editors coming to help out. --Equinox 03:21, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

home page link?

Was wondering if there could be a link to the Accessory page added the homepage under the equipment encyclopedia heading since its now a major item type and there is an odd number of categories there.--SpiralMike 07:05, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Yep, will do that later today after I give the page a going over. --Equinox 15:50, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Added. --Equinox 03:13, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Equipment

We also need to collect information to figure out what "select" means when it comes to armor & helmets. Then we can figure out if it makes more sense to list the equipment that does or doesn't work with an accessory, as well as noting that information on the individual equipment pages. Probably just add a section to Vagueabond's data page. --Equinox 18:32, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Chroma and Wolver caps can't wear a lot of the accessories. Obscure 20:56, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Does it apply to the whole alchemy line then? Perhaps we can sort information in that sort of grouping if it's consistent through the whole line. --Equinox 20:59, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Yep. Whole line. Obscure 22:13, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

Icons

As items are found in game by players, I can do the icons for them unless someone else has a burning desire to do it. --Equinox 22:26, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure someone is just burning alive to do them. (Also, not it.) Obscure 22:30, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes, and since you're not it, it would help greatly if everyone would use the AccessoryInfo template (and not the straight SKwindow coding without icon) because that automatically creates a listing in the wanted images where I can see the & easily upload a copy of the icon. The templates can be removed later, but for the interest of getting all the appropriate images, they do serve a thoughtful purpose. --Equinox 23:00, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Sure, I guess I'll help with that later tonight. Obscure 01:04, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm uploading a few icons in the color scheme of the arsenal sections for potential use on this page. All in the format of Icon-accessory-location_blah.png. --Equinox 01:41, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Show/Hide

I do not think the show/hide panels add to the usability of the page. If you are trying to scan the list then you have to click repeatedly to expand each panel. Lists should be easy to scan. -- Culture 13:27, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm thinking a table would be better. --Equinox 02:56, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Table is better :P DarthLOL 15:57, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll take care of it later today unless someone beats me to it. --Equinox 16:03, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Done, additional comments can be see in the wiki editors forum thread about accessories. --Equinox 03:13, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Master image list

Image obsessers, have at it at User:Equinox/accessorysandbox. Please be very careful that you are uploading the correct image due to the image reuploading bug. I've kept the list to the currently known accessories. You may need to "null edit" the page to get your uploaded images to show up; just edit the page and add/remove a space or a line at the end, then hit save. --Equinox 14:37, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Upgrading Accessory-binded armor

if you, lets say a jelly helm with a game face, if you upgrade it to brute jelly, will you lose the game face accessory, or keep? cause im trying to buy an accessory and im afraid that i will lose it if i upgrade my armor.--Dogbob

As the Accessories and Upgrading section on the page says, it's still there on the upgraded item. --Equinox 16:32, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Basic example images

I've done the example images for all the accessories that I know have been seen in-game. Let me know if wings or halo are seen and I'll do those as well. I went with the "toasty" style for everything that had that style, ghost for aura. --Equinox 22:02, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Solstice Stuff

I've labeled them as "Solstice X" since "X Of" as an article title looks really awkward. The crowns could be loosely considered a halo I guess, but the solstice crests are definitely a completely new accessory. ~Katmint 20:37, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Maybe just add a "Crown" accessory? --Equinox 20:42, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Crown already existed as a disambiguation page, so I didn't want to override that without asking. In any case, the templates don't like the non-standard accessory names, I'm currently working on fixing that first. ~Katmint 20:44, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
I think I'd just keep the crests with the other crests. Even though they show up in the middle of the armor, it seems like folks would just look for them at "crest" since that's in the name. Can just add a note about where the crests show up, left or center. We can always move it later if additional crests of that type show up. For crown, you can move the disambig to "Crown (disambiguation)" and have a link to it from the top of the Crown page. --Equinox 20:46, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I'll move them. ~Katmint 20:47, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll whip out the high res of the new icons right now. --Equinox 20:54, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Updating visuals in the main list

Since we have these nice mouseover previews (on the blueprint head/body), we've been updating the individual accessory pages. A few people think it's time to do that for the main list, but obviously that's a large project, so I'll be working on it in chunks/small steps (like at least one a day! woohoo!). Until that's finished the list is going to look a bit funky, dimension-wise. Using the same size as furniture/costumes for now. -Novaster 22:26, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

P.S. - using random color styles for the main images is probably best, since it emphasizes SK's variety, and more than a few weird "species" have come up where there aren't all of a certain style (like the unique, crests, tendrils/node stuff, and so on. Angle will be maintained, however.

P.S.S -oh oh, we can have the same color styles for "obvious" groups! it would be a subtle but "fun" thing. Like all toasty for "celebratory" - I've done "cool" for the node containers/receivers, might replace the titanium stuff with all dusky...hmm. Probably not, as the lockboxes seem to..."share" certain potential prizes so, they're not really a group per say. But there's no rhyme or reason for choosing the "main" color style for the groups... some people might think that there is? I don't know, just trying to be useful but not confusing.

Update: so, there's a ton of accessories. Really really. Decided to go with "random" and "general groups when available", as with "toasty" for "celebratory", but even this is risky cause they could come out with a bunch of birthday stuff that doesn't have toasty. So yeah! Sounds like a plan (except no, it doesn't). Basically, choose a color that really stands out against the blueprint body and shows the details I guess. -Novaster 17:55, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Update: Basically, choose a color that really stands out against the blueprint body and shows the details I guess. Decided to go with regal for most. Got most of 'em updated! Some acc don't show up as well with regal, but, most stand out quite nicely. -Novaster 01:45, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Main List

I'll be doing a few "interesting" changes to the main list that should help users in general. See Forum Node 103765 for discussion. -Novaster 08:10, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
