A Trojan is a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Many of the Knights that venture into the Clockworks never come back. Trojans are thought to be some corrupted form of those poor souls. They resemble massive knights, clad in heavy armor. In the place of their head is that of an expressionless stone horse. They carry enormous swords and shields, and are completely invulnerable except from attacks to their back.

Types

Strategy

The primary attack of a Trojan is a powerful single swing that leaves it immobilized for several seconds. This swing can damage knights and nearby monsters. If you stand still for several seconds, this monster will charge quickly across the screen to your location, and then attack. If you are facing other monsters in addition to the Trojan, try to maneuver so that they are between you and the charging Trojan: this will result in damage to the other monsters.

Stun and Freeze-inflicting weapons and vials can prove helpful when fighting a Trojan, as it will be unable to move and will be open to attacks in its weak point.

Another good tactic is to let the Trojan charge at you, moving away at the last second. The Trojan will be unable to move for a bit. This gives you a few seconds to attack the crystal in its back.

There is a bug in arenas whereby single players can be trapped in a corner while the Trojan attacks repeatedly. It cannot be knocked back by shields (It can however be knocked back far enough to escape with a troika series charge attack. Results for other knockback weapons are unknown.), and may not move back even after the trapped player is dead. Therefore, always fight Trojans in the center or at the long edges of the board: avoid corners at all costs.

When a Trojan raises its attack, it will stand still, which at first glance may seem to provide a tempting target. However, it also releases a wave that inflicts Shock on nearby players. Wait until the "attack up" animation is finished before attacking.

Trojans are invulnerable, except for a large crystal on their backs. If playing solo, wander in front of the Trojan (close range) until it raises its sword. Then, rush to the back and release a charged attack while the Trojan is immobilized by the act of striking. An alternative solo strategy is to plant a bomb at very close range and then run around the Trojan, causing its back to be facing the bomb when it goes off. If playing with a party, these monsters are easier to beat; use one player to distract the Trojan while others attack it from behind. Remember that Trojans will charge rapidly at any player who sits still for too long: stay moving at all times.

When a Trojan takes enough damage, purple "explosions" emit from it, turning it to stone. Attacking Trojan when he is stone will cause him to shatter, dropping rewards.
