Favourite Gear
There's a certain visceral sensation you get when smashing a zombie into pieces with what is essentially a blade-shaped glacier. The Triglav looks awesome, it feels awesome and it is unfortunately not particularly awesome in terms of actual practicality but I'll be damned if it isn't badass. I like heavy swords in general, I really like both the aesthetic of the Troika line as well as the blues and whites of ice-themed weapons and I really like the freeze status so for all intents and purposes the Triglav is my dream sword. It's got impressive range, it's fun to use and it has phenomenal knockback. It's sadly let down by both it's combo finisher and charged attack having absurdly low damage values comparative to other 5* swords (Particularly it's heavy sword brethren) but that will hopefully be remedied at some point in the future. Even if it isn't I'll continue to use the Triglav; there are some weapons you use because they're good, and they're are some weapons you use because screw your damage per second, I've got a fucking glacier for a sword.
The Polaris is a strangely controversial weapon. Once group of people absolutely loathe it because it's a terribly disruptive weapon when used by unskilled players and also quite difficult to efficently use since it requires more thought than your typical "point and click" guns people prefer to use (Although these criticisms can be applied to nearly every good weapon in Spiral Knights) and then there are people like myself, whom have witnessed or actually experience the wonders of a Polaris completely a totally trivializing entire stratums with its impressive knockback, shock and wonderful damage values as far as a gun is concerned. As my love of heavy swords would imply I do adore weapons with some form of knockback and the Polaris is in many ways a heavy sword with extended range, but with so much more control over direction than any sword could ever hope to have. With a great deal of skill, efficency and co-ordination you can herd mobs into a corner with a pair of Divine Avengers or Leviathan Blades or whatever sword you wish to use, but a single Polaris user can completely control an entire room of foes, whether that be by gathering them together for bomb-users or team-mate's charged attacks, splitting up dangerous foes or just locking down certain enemies into corners and rendering them harmless. There's little more satisfying than watching a group of Retrodes or Zombies pinned in a corner by Polaris explosions, unable to do anything as they're quickly slaughtered.
I think I can safely say I speak for everyone when I say Fiends, Gremlins and Wolvers are undoubtedly some of most irritating, challenging and frankly obnoxious enemies in the game. So a weapon that obliterates all three of them, in large quantities no less, is a superb weapon. When that weapon also comes with the added bonus of a howling Snarbolax image leaping out of the ground and of course equal charge time and movement speed to a Nitronome (A joy for bombers) you have on your hands an amazing weapon. DBB is a thrilling weapon to use, watching hordes of gremlins continually knocked flat onto their backs until their eventual deaths is immensely satisfying and the bomb is ne of the more visually impressive; which is no small feat. A weapon every bomber should have in their arsenal and one any Spiral Knight should appreciate support from; DBB is a fantastic bomb.
