There are multiple different ways to play Spiral Knights, and different advantages and disadvantages for each:

  • Spiral Knights Website. The player's account is created via the "create account" link on the Spiral Knight's website.
    • Standalone Launcher. Players using this method click on the "Play" button of the website, or run the game from a launcher downloaded from the "Play" page
    • Standalone Launcher through Steam. Players using this method add their game to Steam using the "add non steam game to steam library" option.
    • Steam Launcher. Players using this method install Spiral Knights from the Steam Store page, but uncheck the "Log in with Steam Account" box.
  • Steam. The player creates an account by installing Spiral Knights from the Steam Store page, and leaving the "Log in with Steam Account" box checked.
    • Main Account. The player uses this method to access their primary Knight.
    • Alternate Account. The player utilizes their Spiral Knights Website to play the game, and use this method merely to access some of the benefits of the Steam Account system. If a box is blank, then its status depends on the launcher setup the player uses for their Main.
