User:Pauling/Item archetype pages

Hey, Equinox! To answer your questions:

  • The archetype pages aren't an official standard, but rather a collection of common templates and unofficial community standards. They show how to use the recipe templates, where to put infoboxes, how to make links visible on a dark background, what categories and types of information to include, etc.
    • That said, these basic archetypes- or pages decended from their spawn- do seem to be the basis for most newly created pages. However, there's also spotty adaptation of individual elements. Not everyone who uses the archetypes remembers to paste in the categories, recipe explanation text, etc.
  • I agree that automatically adding categories would be very, very useful. At present, this is hindered by the fact that all 3 weapon types use the same (weaponinfo) template- hence the only category that can be added is the generic "weapons". Shango thinks that this can befixed by adding a "weapontype = sword" field to the template with smart tag assignment... but adoption of this field would be slowed by the number of people who create new item pages through the "copy/paste/modify" method. If the random page they copy from isn't up to spec, the new page won't be, either.

  • Hey, thanks for keeping pace with all my uploads and cleaning up the old stuff to keep bloat down. I'll probably start moving though the weapons and then defensive gear next.

Front/Back

Will this extend to helmets too? Saphykun 02:53, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

It depends on if you think it's helpful. I started the front/back thing when I saw that the Deadshot Mantle's charming qualities were only on the back and wanted to make sure people got to see that (same holds true for the lizardy armor with the tail in the back). I'd be fine either way! Just want to have it so it's as useful to people as possible. --Equinox 03:48, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Table Revamp Notes

valign="top"

Header: #496e8b

Cells: #c7dbea

Add one row for series name, use lowest level name for series name

  • Swords 6
  • Handguns 6
  • Bombs 6
  • Armor 5
  • Helmets 5
  • Shields 5
  • Trinkets 5

Switch from numbers (mostly missing, generally outdated if there) to stats images

I probably should be medicated.

So uh, I uploaded stats for all the helmets that I have recipes for. I'll probably do Armor tomorrow if I wake up and find I'm not totally sick it yet. The end.

Found it!

That's not red at all! --Equinox 01:51, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
I used a garlic herb spice mix in place of ranch dressing. That, combined with the paprika, juices from the meat, and incandescent lights in my kitchen fume hood, all combined to impart a slightly red-orangey appearance. It came out quite well, even though I did have to substitute a whole bunch of ingredients to make it less unhealthy. Seriously, I don't see why a cooking site would put nutrition info up with the recipe. Doesn't that defeat the point of posting recipes you might want to cook? --Pauling 04:48, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Recipe consistency

Hi! I got your messages on my talk page. I'd like to get to work on that, but I have a question before I start. I'd like to edit the template which the recipe section is based upon. Is there any way of doing that? I'm also wondering if there is some Wiki functionality or feature that would streamline the process of revisions. Or is it just a matter of "copy + paste"? It seems you were referring to just changing the "star" level in order to cause the correct text to be added automatically...? If that is the case, I'd like to edit whatever it is that sets the text automatically. Does that make sense? Perhaps I could use some instruction as I'm kind of new at all this. ^^; Thanks! --EqualsN 10:20, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Ah, sorry, I think I figured it out. I'd still like to know how to edit the template used for new page creation and the code that automatically puts that text in. Sorry for the trouble. --EqualsN 10:32, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi again! I have a question regarding item Setlists. Currently some say "This is part of the ______ set, which contains:" and link to an uncreated page for the armor set. Others say "The other items in the set are:" and don't link to anything. Before I proceed with editing, I'd like to know what your plans are and what you think I should do with this section. Personally, I prefer seeing the latter for now, since I don't think we'll be creating armor set pages anytime soon, right? Perhaps there's a way to implement this into the "setlist" function used to display setlists? Kind of like how the Recipe function displays the alchemy cost text preceding the recipe, the Setlist function can display "This is a part of the ____ set, which contains:" preceding every setlist? In any case, I'd like to continue editing, but will wait on your response on the matter. Thanks Equinox! --EqualsN 22:40, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
