Wisps are a type of monster found in the Clockworks. They do not deal any damage, but cause status effects.

Traits

Wisps resemble floating sawblades and are likely Construct in origin, as the mission description for the Rank Mission Faith in Armor implies that they were built by Gremlins. They are invulnerable while moving, but while stationary with their blade retracted they can be attacked and slain. Gold Wisps do not stop or retract their blades, making them impossible to kill. Wisps are considered a Drone monster, and thus have no weaknesses to a specific damage type, always follow a set path and do not target or follow players. They drop nothing other than hearts and Vitapods.

Wisps do not directly inflict damage, but a collision with one will always inflict a status effect as shown by the color of the sawblade. Shankles are the damage-inflicting counterpart of Wisps.

Types

Bog Wisp

Winter Wisp

Golden Bog Wisp

Golden Storm Wisp

Golden Volcanic Wisp

Golden Winter Wisp

Strategy

  • With the exception of Golden Wisps, Wisps that are destroyed have a chance of dropping hearts and a smaller chance of dropping Vitapods. When you clear out an area and are low on health, it's best to head back to a previous area which contain Wisps, and destroy them to obtain some health; otherwise, unless they are very inconveniently placed, wisps can be completely ignored beyond shielding when approaching one.
  • Status resist equal to two maxes and a low will make you immune to the status they inflict.

Trivia

  • For unknown reasons, knights sometimes can find Wisps and Shankles stuck in the middle of his normal path and they still deal damage if players touch them. This is probably a bug.
  • Wisps will produce a strange and evil laugh If a player collides with them.
