This page is part of the Lancer Knightz data collection project. The data here measure knight movement speed while charging various swords, at various levels of movement speed increase (MSI). These data were collected by Bopp (where marked with B) and Donkeyhaute. This page is a work in progress.

Procedure

Westward end of the test run.
Eastward end of the test run.

The test takes place between two specific points in Emberlight, as shown in the figures. The tester begins tightly against one wall. He (or she) runs straight toward the other wall, not turning at all. He ends tightly against the other wall. The total distance is 51 tiles.

Only 5-star swords are tested. The tester charges his or her sword, runs the 51-tile distance, and records the time taken. The test is repeated until it seems to settle on an answer. All results (not just the average) are reported to Donkeyhaute, who enters them into a computer program that outputs the summary tables below.

Summary of Data

For each sword, at each level of MSI, the table shows the average seconds per test run, rounded to the nearest tenth of a second. The first entry of the table is the baseline speed of a knight who is not charging any weapon.

Analysis

Preliminary results suggest that each level of MSI increases the tiles per second by about 3.9%.

Within the precision of the test methodology, there seem to be four speeds of movement while charging swords:

  • Most three- and five-stroke swords let the knight run at full speed.
  • Piercing swords cause the knight to run 10%-11% slower than full speed.
  • Warmaster Rocket Hammer causes the knight to run slower still.
  • Two-stroke swords cause the knight to run slower still.
