Recipes are items that allow a knight to produce equipment through crafting.

Acquisition
Recipes can be purchased from vendors who can be found in Haven, the Hall of Heroes, and while adventuring throughout the clockworks.

Hovering over a listed recipe will show the required ingredients as well as the details of the item it will create. After a recipe is purchased, it can be found in your arsenal under Recipes. Once a recipe is learned, the associated item may be crafted as many times as desired.  Recipes cannot be unlearned. The cost of recipes depends on the star level.

Most individual equipment pages on this wiki (should the item have a recipe) will provide recipe acquisition and ingredient information. Many items do not have recipes and/or are not acquired via crafting - more information in the notes section. Some recipes are "built in" to special machines, like the Mysterious Alchemy Machine, and do not need to be acquired and "learned" by the player.
The price of a recipe depends on its star level.
+

 +
There are several ways to acquire recipes. Depending on where they come from, they may or may not be bound. Some recipes can be acquired by:
 +
:Purchasing from Basil (in many Rank Mission lobbies and arcade clockwork terminals) - unbound
 +
:Purchasing from the Auction House (posted by players) - unbound
 +
:Purchasing from Vatel in the Bazaar - unbound
 +
:Purchasing from a Hall of Heroes vendor or Sullivan - bound
 +
:Earning them as a Rank Mission reward - bound
 +

 +
Some vendors will have variable stock day to day or even minute to minute and player to player. As a rule of thumb, vendors who sell bound recipes will generally have the same (infinite) stock, usually depending on the rank of your knight.
 +

 +
The cost of a recipe item depends on the star level of the item the recipe helps to create. Recipe items (of X star level) cost the same no matter which NPC vendor they are purchased from.

How to Learn Recipes
Learning
After a recipe is acquired, it can be found in your arsenal under the "Recipes" section. Once a recipe is learned, it is essentially bound, and the associated item may be crafted as many times as desired. Recipes cannot be unlearned. Recipes you have already learned will be moved from your arsenal to your "Recipes" list (default to view is "F5"). Your knight will not need to learn a recipe more than once.
*First, acquire an unlearned recipe; it will be placed in the recipe section of your arsenal. Two well-known recipe vendors are Basil (found in clockwork terminals) and Vatel (found in the Haven bazaar).
+
*Second, click on the recipe you wish to learn and click on the "Learn" option presented.
+
*Voila! You can now make that item through the alchemy machines located in every town area.
+

Note: Recipes you have already learned will be moved from your arsenal to your "Recipes" list (F5).

Mousehovering over a listed recipe will show the required ingredients as well as the details of the item it will create.
Acquiring Recipes
+
The most common way to acquire recipes is to purchase them from a vendor or from the Auction House, except Fire Crystal recipes that can only be obtained from rank missions.
+

In the past, players could purchase the Azure Guardian line armor and helm, Leviathan Blade line sword, Aegis line shield, Valiance line gun, and Nitronome line bombs from Kozma; these recipes are now obtained as rewards for completing certain Missions. In a similar manner, players can obtain recipes by visiting the Hall of Heroes and speaking with the various denizens present. The Hall can only be accessed by completing the Hall of Heroes missions.
+
Recipe items can be resold to vendors, but this isn't frugal. Vendors buy recipes at a very low crown price. The player  may want to remove clutter from inventory, if they accidentally buy a recipe that they have already learned. Don't buy multiple bound recipes from vendors. But... it can be profitable to resell unbound recipes (from Basil) to other players via trade or the Auction House.

The only recipes that are not available in the Hall of Heroes are:
+
Most combat gear items require a recipe to be crafted, with numerous exceptions, listed here.

*Graviton bomb line,
+
There are some unusual items that require recipes, and/or have an unusual recipe. These include:
*Breaker armor lines,
+
:Grand Solstice Ring - requires two 4* items, instead of just one
*All Boss token item upgrades,
+
:Fiendish ID Card - this is a material. It is highly unusual for a material to have a recipe.
*King Krogmo recipes.
+

These can be bought from the playerbase or from Basil (both in Mission lobbies and Clockwork Terminals).
+
History
:NOTE: Recipes 2-star and above will only be in stock for you if you fought your way through the previous level in its entirety, i.e. you joined the party at least two levels before the Clockwork Terminal itself: levels 2, 11, 21.
+
2013-08-21: Recipes for certain Fire Crystals were added to the game as rewards for certain rank missions. Any knight that had already completed the required missions received these recipes in the mail.

Arsenal icon for recipes.

A Recipe is an arsenal item that allows the player to produce certain equipment through crafting.

Acquisition

Most individual equipment pages on this wiki (should the item have a recipe) will provide recipe acquisition and ingredient information. Many items do not have recipes and/or are not acquired via crafting - more information in the notes section. Some recipes are "built in" to special machines, like the Mysterious Alchemy Machine, and do not need to be acquired and "learned" by the player.

There are several ways to acquire recipes. Depending on where they come from, they may or may not be bound. Some recipes can be acquired by:

Purchasing from Basil (in many Rank Mission lobbies and arcade clockwork terminals) - unbound
Purchasing from the Auction House (posted by players) - unbound
Purchasing from Vatel in the Bazaar - unbound
Purchasing from a Hall of Heroes vendor or Sullivan - bound
Earning them as a Rank Mission reward - bound

Some vendors will have variable stock day to day or even minute to minute and player to player. As a rule of thumb, vendors who sell bound recipes will generally have the same (infinite) stock, usually depending on the rank of your knight.

The cost of a recipe item depends on the star level of the item the recipe helps to create. Recipe items (of X star level) cost the same no matter which NPC vendor they are purchased from.

Recipe Prices

Rating Crowns
★☆☆☆☆ 250
★★☆☆☆ 1,000
★★★☆☆ 4,000
★★★★☆ 10,000
★★★★★ 25,000

Notes

Mousehovering over a listed recipe will show the required ingredients as well as the details of the item it will create.

Recipe items can be resold to vendors, but this isn't frugal. Vendors buy recipes at a very low crown price. The player may want to remove clutter from inventory, if they accidentally buy a recipe that they have already learned. The topic of this article or section is subject to personal opinion, and does not represent any one absolute truth. If you disagree, discuss your concerns on the the talk page before editing. Don't buy multiple bound recipes from vendors. But... it can be profitable to resell unbound recipes (from Basil) to other players via trade or the Auction House.

Most combat gear items require a recipe to be crafted, with numerous exceptions, listed here.

There are some unusual items that require recipes, and/or have an unusual recipe. These include:

Grand Solstice Ring - requires two 4* items, instead of just one
Fiendish ID Card - this is a material. It is highly unusual for a material to have a recipe.
