About Us

We are the Super Splodin' Shard Squad, we're a a small-ish guild that has been around for almost as long as shard bombs have, and hopefully we'll be around for much longer. Originally we were just a small group of bombers who got together to try get the most fun out of our shard bombs following the redesign they received, but over time we grew into an entire guild. If you've also tried to master the shard bombs them you probably know the feeling already; try to use them in random parties, chances are you'll feel left out from all the people killing everything with their infinitely more powerful weapons before your bombs even go off. Grouping up, we felt that encounters can be cleared just as quickly as other setups, but in a fun, flashy manner.

Even though we may have initially just been a bunch of whacky bombing wanting to try out Shards, out objective expanded in scope as we grew. We began to try out other lesser-used bombs, and soon enough any of underused or underrated piece of gear in general. Shard Squad welcomes those who enjoy experimenting with gear that the majority of people don't, if you think a Flamberge is a fine too; if you try to tango with Triglav; if you prefer to perforate piercing opponents with Pepperbox, if you boast Bombastic armour, blasting away with your BAB; if you see fun mechanics where others see a waste of design time, then Shard Squad is for you.

As our guild we can be described in one simple sentence; "We look for potential, where others have already given up looking".

Our Rules

Naturally as a guild we have to have some rules in place, lest we descend into total anarchy. However for the most part we're incredibly laid back about this, the only real 'rule' we have is be a decent person. If you behave in an inappropriate fashion, act like a dickhead, engage in bigotry, or otherwise create a negative atmosphere within the guild, you'll be removed fast. This also stands true of your appearance in public as well, don't go into the Clockworks or Lockdown behaving in an embarrassing fashion, we wouldn't like it if another guild treated our members with indecency, and we expect you to show that same respect towards others.

Simply put as long as you strive to not be a terrible person, it's unlikely you'll be kicked.

How to Join us

I'd like to join, but I'm not very good at this game.

We don't care! Join us all the same!

I'd like to join, but all I don't have end-game gear

We don't care! Join us all the same!

I'd like to join, but I'm worried we'll just lose a lot in Lockdown.

We don't care! Join us all the same!

I think turtlebears are dumb.

You're officially a Guild Master.

All my prayers have been answered! Where do I sign up?

Either make a post in our official thread, join the steam group or message Drischa in-game. Whatever works!.

A brief history lesson

“Sometimes you will never know the value of something, until it becomes a memory.”

The date is August 8th 2012, and doom is upon us. We all knew the calamity was coming, in fact it was conveniently announced a whole month beforehand. Even so, we were unprepared, nobody was. New knights who awake on cradle after they make their descent from orbit in the present will never truly understand what we once experienced in the past, they will never place a bomb and watch as eight bright lights of awesome death fly out in different direction, nor will they ever watch a helpless zombie leap atop the crystallized death machine, only to be instantly killed. The date is August 8th 2012, the day the "Shard Bombs" as they existed before died, and instead something new, something different, something really poorly designed and riddled with bugs that would remain over a year later was born, rose from the ashes like a distinctly underpowered phoenix, bestowed upon us by wisdom none of us can really make heads or tails of even now.

Whilst the bombing community may have lost something extraordinary, there was still hope yet. Or maybe there wasn't, and some people were delusional enough to try and find some anyway. Regardless the Shard Squad was formed, originally just a group of merry miscreants whom still in tremendous denial over the changes to shard bombs decided that the only appropriate course of action was to spam them mindless in every possible scenario in the hope something worked. Nobody could've really predicted what would happen next, but soon our merry band of trouble makers were running time and time again, one explosive adventure lead into the next, soon a guild was formed of alt-accounts to fester a meeting ground, and then those alt-accounts were replaced by mains and what once began as a bunch of fools too stubborn to let the past go, turned into something beautiful. Well we tell ourselves that anyway.

If you actually read all this pretentious twaddle, you can have a free Shard Bomb.
