Acheron, as a river of the underworld, may be related to your Dead Gold theory. "Ur" is a German prefix meaning "original" or "primeval". :So... On Ur, if this is the case, somehow, he could've somehow passed this down(curse?) to other knight-like beings, hence why Spirals could become Trojans, or this had never happened up until then and others joined after him.
