Polyps are a type of enemy found in the Clockworks.

Traits

A slime turret usally found in Slime and Beast themed depths. Unlike other turrets, Polyps can see in all directions, so it is impossible to sneak up on them. They also shoot thorns which move slightly slower than the bullets of Gun Puppies and Howlitzers.

Types

Polyp

Slick Polyp

Polar Polyp

Silver Polyp

Caustic Polyp

Royal Polyp

Royal Polar Polyp

Compound Polyp

Strategy

Like Gun Puppies and Howlitzers, Polyps are generally only a problem in groups: a lone Polyp can be disposed of quite quickly due to how predictable its attacks are. The barbs fired by Polyps move surprisingly slowly compared to the bullets/missiles fired by the other two turrets, but this can be a curse to players used to dodging the bullets from those enemies; finally, players that like killing Howlitzers and Gun Puppies through ambushes will have far less success with Polyps due to their omnidirectional detection abilities. Aside from these details, fighting a Polyp differs little from confronting a Gun Puppy or Howlitzer and should be treated accordingly.

Trivia

  • Despite the Love Puppy being a construct type, it can spawn in place of a Polyp. This can also happen to Howlitzers

  • Despite Polyps having an omnidirectional sight, they still must turn to fire at a Knight. Curiously, because of such, a frozen Polyp will be restricted to firing in the last direction it was "facing".
