Cradle is the strange planet on which Spiral Knights is set.
Contents
Layout
Cradle has an elaborate machinery inside it, called The Clockworks. It is organized into Gates that provide access to different sections, floors at various depths within a section, levels found on each floor, and the towns at the known common points.
Gates
An empty, inactive gate is created every two days by the clockworks. Knights go down into the various dungeons to collect minerals, and deposit minerals into these inactive gates.
A gate has a countdown timer; every two days, it goes down one, until it opens.
When it opens, The Clockworks use the minerals to construct a dungeon connected to the gate.
Dungeons
A dungeon is a series of floors; each floor may have multiple levels.
Dungeons that go down at least 7 floors will go to MoorCroft.
Dungeons that go down at least 15 floors will go to Emberlight.
Dungeons that go down 24 floors will currently go to The Core; this may change by release.
Floors
A floor is a collection of levels at a given depth.
Levels
Levels are maps that Knights run around on, killing and looting for fun and profit.
Some levels have only a single map. Other levels are built up from parts; each time you visit such a level, it will be different.
