Divisions (9/30/2019)
- Issued by: Bamzalot
Content
Greetings Rangers! I would like to announce a new grouping system to the guild. We call them Divisions, large teams of players that calls back to the squad systems we experimented with before. Squads were repeatedly trialed, but eventually considered to be ineffective and with little motivation. Divisions are a play on this by acting as very passive ways to organize guild members and encourage thematic styles.
I want to make it clear right away that hence forth, all guild members above the Recruit rank will be counted into a Division. That being said, you do not need to take an active role in choosing or representing any of the Divisions. More on that later. Recruits to the guild will be without a group until they achieve their Membership promotion, at which point they may choose between three active Divisions.
Recon Rangers
This group is lead by me, Bamzalot, and represents the bulk of our guild's operations. They are the frontline combatants and on-duty soldiers. They wear the Dangerous uniforms and have the Fourth Floor-Left Side of the guild hall to their name. They will likely be the largest and most focused on Division. Members may choose to join this Division; anyone who does not have a preference for Division activity will automatically be marked into this Division.
Scarlet Scouts
Lead by Sandslinger, the Scouts will represent search and retrieval operations. They act in smaller teams with emphasis on "skirmish and secure" over the "search and destroy" of the Rangers. They wear Hazardous uniforms and have the Third Floor-Left Side of the guild hall to serve as their base of operations.
Monster Squad
Lead by Burnac, the Monsters represent a creature taming, training, and Cradle negotiation / support branch. This group has a pretty strong emphasis on roleplay and community, so this may be a good team if you have interest in that. Monster Squad members can be in the form of Tamers or Creatures, meaning you may use armors like Wolver or Chromalisk to roleplay as a creature working with the Recon Rangers. More rare costumes like the Gremlin sets, Kat armors, Mecha Knight sets, etc can also be utilized to represent the Monster Squad as the overall "Non-Knight" theme of this Division. The Monster Squad shares half of the Fourth Floor-Right Side as their domain.
Scale Overwatch
Basically lead by Carnatux, the Overwatch is the primary Headquarters for all actions in the guild. All Officers and Guild Masters are counted as an Overwatch member. They are a passive Division serving the goal of organizing the guild and managing the Divisions. Essentially, this Division exists to keep an eye on other Division's activity and resolve conflicts when necessary. It is not possible for Members to join this Division.
Motivation
You may be asking what the importance of this Division system is? When you really get down to it, this is all pretty much optional. If you don't want to be involved, you may simply be marked as a Recon Ranger and set on whichever way you normally would play the game. However, if you want to take part in some more thematic roles in the guild then this is your option to do so. Division leaders are trusted to manage each Division's assets and activity while members are trusted to play out the role they choose to some degree. Recon Rangers, as stated before, are the most basic of the guild which pairs well with the standard activity a player may experience while playing SK. Choose them if you have no interest in specialized behavior. When it does come to specialization, they can be seen as the brute force elite unit of the guild who simply gets their instructions and then deploys to destroy. However, you can choose the Scouts to roleplay in a more analytical "move in move out" based playstyle (with a healthy dose of EDGE mixed in), or the Monster Squad to be a more creative "animalistic combat and Cradle enthusiast" based playstyle (with a healthy dose of furbait mixed in).
Goals
As a final note, the Division system helps us guide our future plans for the guild. Since this is mostly a very passive thing with a couple of leaders taking the helm, it all comes down to being a way for people with specific interests to better unite with similar minded players and pursue their goals. For example, Rangers may be tasked with simply completing their missions, taking on challenges, and amassing funds for the guild's treasury. Scouts could be the branch to locate new players to help with their missions and introduce them to the guild, possibly supporting recruitment. They can also serve as the recipe finders, rare room documenters, and help locate key items that the guild / members need from merchants. Monster Squad could be for players who are into creative play styles, general experimentation, and discussing various subjects or problems individuals / communities need to get off their chest.
Final Words
With that being said, effective immediately, it would be great for all guildies ranked Member or higher to contact on of the Officers or Guild Masters to decide which of these divisions you would like to be in. Remember, if you have no special interests or do not specify anything to use you will be marked as a Recon Ranger automatically! You may choose to change your Division later on if so desired. Also note that #divisions-report in our Recon Rangers (Guild) Discord will be opened to allow specific communication about Divisions!
Good luck to all of our guild members in their plans, and we hope that you find the Divisions to be something unique and interesting to the guild!
