Guild Mission

<Hydra> was founded on February 17, 2012, by Arquebus and Warmatrix, two long-time players and friends. Our mission is to help others achieve the same enjoyment and success that we've had in Spiral Knights, and to that end we've filled our guild with helpful, friendly players who share our vision.

About Us

We hang out in the guildhall, run dungeons, help newbies, and occasionally jump into guild Lockdown. Our members range from seasoned veterans to fresh podlets. We have members in many timezones all over the world, and our five star officer corps is active and ready to assist at any time of day. We also run raffles and a brand new event, Jellyhorse! Non-guildies can participate to a limited degree, but guildies get the best and most fun bits. Read on to find out more!

Join

Contact an officer or guildmaster if you'd like to join. Anyone can enter, regardless of skill or gear! Drop by our guildhall, you can usually find someone there to help you.

Rank System

Rank within the guild is at officer discretion. All Hydra recruits start as, well, Recruits. Once you've proven yourself to be a good and trustworthy person, you will be promoted to Member, and gain access to our mist wells and vault of 0-3* materials and weapons. Continue to be an asset to the guild and you may be promoted to Veteran, which allows you access to even more space in the vault. Once better tools are created for mist well management, rank may also affect use of the mist well. If you have to ask to be promoted, you probably won't be.

Guild Rules

We have a few rules to help ensure that our members all have a good time, and our resources get to people that need them:

  • No begging! We worked hard for our money, and so should you! We're happy to help you run dungeons, but don't expect a handout!
  • You must be able to speak enough English to understand these rules. We have no problem if you have a different first language and prefer to speak that most of the time, but guild business is conducted in English (what the officers speak), and we would like our membership to be able to understand any instructions or announcements we may make.
  • Two officers are required to make major changes to the guildhall outside of their rooms.
  • Most of all, be nice to your fellow knights, guildmates or not!

Any member found to be breaking a rule will receive a warning the first time, and will be removed from the guild the second time; there shall be no exceptions. Please understand that the rules are here for a reason, and that they only work if everyone follows them!

Mist Wells

Our mist wells are now open to all guildmembers of Member rank and above! They're on the third floor next to Xeroi's room and the Bar & Grill.

  • To withdraw from the well, add 50 crowns to the treasury for each unit of mist you withdraw. That's only 5,000 crowns per tank!
    • Failure to pay for well use will result in your IMMEDIATE removal from the guild; no other warnings will be given.
  • 1,200 additional energy is added to the well once per week.
  • Once the treasury has 180,000 crowns in it, the officers will divert their spending to buying more crystal to put in the well!
  • Please avoid using the well more than twice per day. If you are found to be taking more energy than is reasonable, you may be demoted.
  • Please avoid "prepaying" for your well use far in advance, or depositing for other members; doing this makes it difficult for our records-keepers to find abusers.

Raffle

Every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Hydra holds a raffle! Prizes vary from week to week, but may include rare materials, energy, UV'd weapons and gear, and other cool stuff!

  • Tickets are 500 crowns apiece.
    • The more tickets you buy, the better chance you have of winning the prize! Do remember that this is a raffle, though; buying lots of tickets doesn't guarantee a win.
  • Non-guildmembers can enter too! Just contact one of our officers about buying tickets, and we'll put you in! Only members can win the week's grand prize, though.
  • The drawings will take place at Noon, Pacific Time. You don't have to be present to claim your prize; it'll be mailed to you.

The prizes for the drawing on Saturday the 15th are:

  • Military Game Face (Grand Prize!)
  • Hallow Cloak
  • Wolver Coat, Pierce: Low

Jellyhorse

An exciting race event in which teams of two attempt to complete Royal Jelly Palace in the fastest time!

Team Registration

  • Teams are composed of two members. Any two non-officer guild members may form a team.
  • Additionally, an officer accompanies each team to observe them; said officer will die immediately in a non-disruptive way at the start of each level.
  • 5 star equipment of any kind is not allowed. All other gear is permitted.
  • Teams must register their team name and equipment with their accompanying officer before the run begins. Betters may ask about the gear being used.
  • All teams will meet in the guildhall before the race begins to show their equipment and encourage bets.

Run Rules

  • A run is considered to be finished when the Royal Jelly begins its death animation. At this point, an officer will call “Done” over guild chat.
  • ALL enemies must be killed, and ALL rooms must be completed. If any enemies are left alive at the end of a room, the team is disqualified.
  • Energy revives disqualify the team; they may still continue the run if they wish, but they will not be eligible for prizes.
  • The accompanying officer may give the team warnings if they would be disqualified (if they see a lurking mini cube for instance), but may not otherwise assist or interfere in the run.
  • To add to the drama of the race, the officer accompanying each team will call out relevant details of the run (finished rooms, in elevators, etc.) in guild chat!

Betting

  • Any amount of crowns can be bet on a team, and anyone can bet!
  • Winners get double their original bet! Yay!
  • Losers get nothing! Boo!
  • Bets can be registered with any Hydra officer or guildmaster.
  • Bets may be placed before and during the run, up to the point at which one team has cleared the last of the four rooms in Red Carpet Runaround. The officer with that team will announce when this happens.
  • To avoid conflicts of interest, officers cannot bet; team members may bet, but only on their own team.
  • You may bet on multiple teams; due to the nature of the game, it's only possible for one of them to win, however.

Prizes

The winners of the race will each receive 10% of the money left over after paying the bet winners. The rest of the money is added to the guild treasury.
