To the extent that it's practical, let's share recipes. How? Well, most low-star items can be crafted without equipping them. For example, let's say you want a Glacius. Find a guildmate to craft a Brandish for you. Then, before you equip it, find another guildmate to craft that Brandish into an Iceburst Brandish. Now you have the 3-star version, and the rest is up to you. Depending on energy prices, this may or may not save you money over buying the Brandish or Iceburst Brandish on the Auction House.

There are some conditions here. Basically, the crafter is doing you a favor, so make his life as easy as you can. Know all the materials and costs ahead of time by consulting the wiki. You supply all materials and costs, not the crafter. It is expected that the crafted item is for your personal use — not for sale or for a gift to a friend. Joining the guild, using this service, and then immediately leaving the guild is quite uncool.

Rank is admittedly a bit silly, but we like to use it as a small reward for serving the guild well. So let's lay out some rough guildelines, for what rank means in Lancer Knightz.
+
Many of our guild members do not care about rank. For those who do, let's lay out the guidelines. If you have fulfilled the requirements for a certain rank, but have not been promoted, then please gently explain to an Officer or Guild Master why you deserve promotion.
* When you first join our guild, you are a Recruit. Your guildmates may notice you, welcome you into the guild, and offer to go into the Clockworks with you.
+

* You get promoted to Member as soon as it's clear that you are going to be an active player. If we invite you one day, and on the next day we see that you're back, then that may be good enough. Membership carries no special rights or responsibilities. Most people in Lancer Knightz are Members.
+
Recruit
* A Veteran is a member who has distinguished himself or herself somehow. The basic way to get promoted from Member to Veteran is to recruit one active guild member. (A Member cannot invite people into the guild, but he or she can ask an Officer or Guild Master to invite for him.) Sometimes a knight who has simply played in the guild for a long time is promoted to Veteran. Sometimes a knight whom we recruit from another guild, who held a high rank in that guild, is granted Veteran status early.
+

The higher ranks come with actual power. With that power comes responsibility.

* An Officer is expected to recruit new guild members and promote them to Member and Veteran as appropriate. An Officer is expected to play often — certainly multiple times per week. An Officer who does not fulfill these responsibilities may be demoted to Veteran. No hard feelings. If you are a Veteran and want to be an Officer, you can prove it by recruiting two (more) active guild members. Although Officers are technically able to promote Veterans to Officers, and to remove people from the guild, Officers are discouraged from performing either of these actions.

* A Guild Master has the responsibilities of an Officer (playing often, recruiting new members) and several other responsibilities related to the long-term health of the guild. He or she promotes and demotes Officers to improve the flow of new members. He or she occasionally takes on the task of cataloguing and carefully removing inactive members. He or she designs and implements projects for improving the guild. Right now we have three Guild Masters, plus a fourth, inactive one from the ancient days. Promotion to Guild Master happens very rarely, and there is no guideline for who deserves it. Even if you are the most active member of the guild, you may never proceed past Officer.

* Donkeyhaute was invited into Lancer Knightz by Pula in April 2011, a few days after he started playing. He was the eighth or ninth member of the guild. He spent the next two months or so as a Recruit. One day, an Officer noticed him and promoted him to Member. Ten days later, for reasons that are still not clear, he was Guild Master.
 +
* Sooch was promoted to Guild Master sometime during Summer 2011. Representatives of The Ascendicate approached Lancer Knightz, suggesting that the guilds be merged. Sooch, who was then an Officer, convinced Donkeyhaute that they should try to revive the moribund Lancer Knightz, rather than abandon it. Sooch was promoted to Guild Master and has been a central figure in the guild ever since.

* Norpo was promoted to Guild Master in late September 2011.

A Lottery will be held every week at Friday 6:00 PM, or Saturday 4:00 PM (Game Time). Any guild member online at the time can join! The lottery prize will default as 200 crowns up to 1000 crowns. Donations will be accepted, and be used as prizes in the lottery. Every few weeks, there may be a larger prize then usual as much as 5000 crowns or 80 crystal energy!! To enter you must join the guild hall at one of those times. The procedure afterwards is depended upon how many participants there are. The participants shall call separate numbers based on how many people have entered the lottery, and shall line up accordingly to their numbers. Then the banker shall roll a dice. Whoever has their number rolled shall win the prize!!

This is the official wiki page for the Spiral Knights guild Lancer Knightz. Lancer Knightz is a fairly old guild, dating from sometime in April 2011. (Spiral Knights itself launched on April 4, 2011.) Our guild members are diverse in their interests (PvE, PvP, crafting, chatting, etc.) and experience (2-star, 5-star, etc.). If you are a pleasant, active player, then we'd love to have you.

Rules

Our guild is casual. Rules and procedures certainly aren't our thing. But there are two common values, on which we agree. Guild members who violate these principles may be removed from the guild.

 • Be pleasant. If you want crowns, then don't beg; sell something or go into the Clockworks. If you have no energy, then don't beg; wait for tomorrow. If you invite someone to join your party, and they won't come, then don't beg; get over it. If you want to be promoted, then don't beg; fulfill the stated requirements below. Don't use any slurs, racial or otherwise. Don't scam people or steal from them. Let's develop a reputation, of which we can be proud.
 • Be active. Everyone goes on trips or is otherwise busy in real life sometimes. It's okay if you don't log on every day, or even every week. But if you stop playing Spiral Knights entirely, or if you find yourself missing weeks frequently, then please remove yourself from the guild, so that we can bring in more active members.

Sharing

To the extent that it's practical, let's share recipes. How? Well, most low-star items can be crafted without equipping them. For example, let's say you want a Glacius. Find a guildmate to craft a Brandish for you. Then, before you equip it, find another guildmate to craft that Brandish into an Iceburst Brandish. Now you have the 3-star version, and the rest is up to you. Depending on energy prices, this may or may not save you money over buying the Brandish or Iceburst Brandish on the Auction House.

Rank

Many of our guild members do not care about rank. For those who do, let's lay out the guidelines. If you have fulfilled the requirements for a certain rank, but have not been promoted, then please gently explain to an Officer or Guild Master why you deserve promotion.

Recruit

When you first join our guild, you are a Recruit. Your guildmates may welcome you into the guild, and offer to go into the Clockworks with you or join you on a PvP team.

Member

You get promoted to Member as soon as it's clear that you are going to be an active player. If we invite you one day, and on the next day we see that you're back, then that may be good enough. Most people in Lancer Knightz are Members.

Veteran

A Veteran is a member who has distinguished himself or herself somehow.

 • The most common way to get promoted from Member to Veteran is to recruit one active guild member. (A Member cannot invite people into the guild, but he can ask an Officer or Guild Master to invite for him.) Note well that inviting a knight is not enough; the knight must join to become Recruit, and then must return to become Member. Only then is the Member who recruited the knight promoted to Veteran.
 • Sometimes a knight who has simply played in the guild for a long time is promoted to Veteran.
 • Sometimes a knight whom we recruit from another guild, who held a high rank in that guild, is granted Veteran status early.

Officer

In Spiral Knights, guild Officers have actual power. In Lancer Knightz, that power comes with responsibility. An Officer plays often — certainly multiple times per week. An Officer knows the policies of the guild. He recruits new guild members and promotes them to Member and Veteran as appropriate. Whenever an Officer recruits a new guild member, he sends the recruit an in-game mail message (not a /tell) explaining how to find this wiki page. An Officer who does not fulfill these responsibilities may be demoted to Veteran.

Although Officers are technically able to promote Veterans to Officers, and to remove people from the guild, Officers are discouraged from performing either of these actions.

If you are a Veteran and want to be an Officer, you can prove it by recruiting two (more) active guild members.

Guild Master

A Guild Master has the responsibilities of an Officer (playing often, recruiting new members) and several other responsibilities related to the long-term health of the guild. He or she promotes and demotes Officers to improve the flow of new members. He or she occasionally takes on the task of cataloguing and carefully removing inactive members. He or she designs and implements projects for improving the guild.

Promotion to Guild Master happens very rarely, and there is no guideline for who deserves it. Even if you are the most active member of the guild, you may never proceed past Officer. Here is a brief history of our Guild Masters.

 • Whitelancer started Lancer Knightz with Pula and Shakugan. Our dormant Guild Master Shockgun is a remnant from this era of the guild.
 • Donkeyhaute was invited into Lancer Knightz by Pula in April 2011, a few days after he started playing. He was the eighth or ninth member of the guild. He spent the next two months or so as a Recruit. One day, an Officer noticed him and promoted him to Member. Ten days later, for reasons that are still not clear, he was Guild Master.
 • Sooch was promoted to Guild Master sometime during Summer 2011.
 • Norpo was promoted to Guild Master in late September 2011.

Cleaning House

A guild can have at most 100 members. Because most players stop playing Spiral Knights eventually, any guild clogs up with inactive players. Here is a possible procedure for cleaning out these players. It is recommended that a single Guild Master perform the entire procedure, to avoid mistakes of communication; we don't want an active player accidentally removed! Because the procedure is laborious, it is recommended that Guild Masters take turns.

 • The Guild Master sends an in-game mail message to every member of the guild who seems to be inactive — for example, the Guild Master has not seen the member logged on in a month. The message explains that the guild is removing inactive members, and asks the member to respond within three (or four) weeks, or be removed from the guild.
 • The Guild Master carefully keeps track of which members were mailed, and which have responded.
 • When the three (or four) weeks have elapsed, the Guild Master removes each member who was mailed and did not respond. Just before the member is removed, the Guild Master sends a second mail message, explaining again why the member faces removal, and apologizing for any mistakes.

A final important detail: While the Guild Master is removing members, other members who are logged in will see their guild mates being removed, and may panic. So, while the Guild Master is carrying out the removals, he or she should periodically post a short explanation to guild chat, for anyone just logging in.

Lottery
