This plot shows one way of thinking about damage bonuses. On the ''x''-axis are damage numbers with damage bonus +0, +2, +4. On the ''y''-axis are the corresponding damage numbers with damage bonus +2, +4, +6. For example, Nitronome's 166 and 186 numbers plot at the point (166, 186). The plot is nearly linear. The slope of the best-fit line of the form ''y'' = ''m'' ''x'' has slope ''m'' = 1.09784, suggesting that each two levels of damage bonus increase damage by 9.784%. The square root of 1.09784 is 1.04778, suggesting that each level of damage bonus increases damage by 4.778%.

The guild Lancer Knightz has a long-running project to collect data on the speed and damage of various weapons. If you'd like to help, then please contact Donkeyhaute.

These particular data were collected by Donkeyhaute. The tables show the damage dealt by many of the 5-star bombs, at heat level 10, against every kind of monster, at every level of damage bonus from -2 (Medium penalty) to +6 (Maximum!). These data are from depth 19; see also the depth-24 data.

Nitronome and Dark Briar Barrage:

Aspect Target -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6
explosion vulnerable 211 231 252 272
explosion neutral 166 186 207 227
explosion resistant 34 37 40 44

Scintillating Sun Shards:

Aspect Target -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6
explosion vulnerable 87 98 108 119
shard vulnerable 103 115 127 139
explosion neutral 51 57 64 72
shard neutral 60 69 80 94
explosion resistant 17 18 19 21
shard resistant 19 20 22 23

Ash of Agni, Shivermist Buster, Venom Veiler, and Voltaic Tempest (and probably Stagger Storm):

Aspect Target -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6
explosion vulnerable 173 190 208 225
explosion neutral 128 145 163 180
explosion resistant 28 31 33 36

Graviton Vortex:

Aspect Target -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6
explosion all 6 7 7 7
collapse vulnerable 195 214 233 252
collapse neutral 150 169 188 207
collapse resistant 31 34 37 40

Dark Retribution:

Aspect Target -2 -1 0 +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6
explosion vulnerable 51 59 62 66 74
explosion neutral 33 37 40 44
explosion resistant 12 13 14 15

This plot shows one way of thinking about damage bonuses. On the x-axis are damage numbers with damage bonus +0, +2, +4. On the y-axis are the corresponding damage numbers with damage bonus +2, +4, +6. For example, Nitronome's four numbers 211, 231, 252, and 272 plot at the three points (211, 231), (231, 252), and (252, 272). The plot is nearly linear. The best-fit line of the form y = m x has slope m = 1.09784, suggesting that each two levels of damage bonus increase damage by 9.784%. The square root of 1.09784 is 1.04778, suggesting that each level of damage bonus increases damage by 4.778%.
