I believe this should be updated, since from my experience the royal polyps DO keep respawning at every stage. My 3 Jelly runs are obviously not conclusive, so confirmation would be great, but I'm convinced that they respawned about 5 times until we got mad and swapped to the blitz technique. I recommend either removing this section or providing an alternate starvation method.

Starvation Strategy

I believe this should be updated, since from my experience the royal polyps DO keep respawning at every stage. My 3 Jelly runs are obviously not conclusive, so confirmation would be great, but I'm convinced that they respawned about 5 times until we got mad and swapped to the blitz technique. I recommend either removing this section or providing an alternate starvation method. --NightFantom 21:09, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Upcoming Update

With the Royal Jelly being reworked considerably and said changes presumably being due in the next significant update, are we going move the existing content into a history section or just the videos demonstrating how the fight used to work? --Echoez 12:45, 14 October 2011 (GMT)

Vanaduke's original style is saved only as a video. No one's ever asked for more information of the original fight, so it's safe to say either no one cared, or they got what they wanted from the video. The same could definitely be done here. I'll record the new Royal Jelly a day after he's released, after all the emergency patches to fix him, and bump my old video and the walkthrough down to a History subsection. Though, a better question might be in order. Should Ultimate Royal Jelly share the same page? Obscure 00:05, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Those who are familiar with the pre-update Jelly King would probably find most useful the differences between the pre/post fight, rather than a separate pre/post strategy. But perhaps someone would be kind enough to list the info in this discussion area?  :3 --Acru 17:04, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

So, in the interests of starting to collect information, here's what I've noticed is new:

  • There are gates in front of the party button, so you can't break blocks or set bombs before triggering the fight.
  • There are now slime turrets around the edges of the room that spawn Royal Minis. They can also fire single barb shots, like tier 1 Polyps.
  • The Jelly King no longer spawns Royal Minis himself. This makes it MUCH easier to get close to him.
  • The Jelly King now pauses for about half a second before going into his rage spin.
  • I think the Jelly King may now be weak to shadow damage. I need to double-check the numbers to be sure, the fight is still pretty hectic.

Any more? --Antistone 22:50, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Having done a few runs after the update, I have to agree with all the above. JK is actually weak to shadow now. (Levi blade 3rd hit is roughly 120 w/out UVs, Acheron hits >150 w/out UVs). His attack also seems slower not just in the rage spin but his normal attack as well, but that may just be me... Also, the Polyps in the corners seem to only drop hearts. Personal opinions

These chunks of text need to be reworded from first person (I) to third person (some players blah blah blah). --Equinox 12:14, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

(ADD: In my opinion there isn't any tactic. You just rush at him and keep hitting. don't mind about your health. Keep hitting. back away when he turns pink but stay on his tail. Do NOT run around as he will heal himself and you will have to do it all over again. Do NOT wait to revive. if your in a party do not argue about reviving. Any waste of time will make the game more harder as he revives himself by sacrificing the smaller blobs and taking their health. In short: Just attack)

(ADD: don't forget Lithanium's opinion! If your gonna use vials, don't use any now. simply wear down his health until he is singing you spin me around(like a record) and blushing. If no one has a poisonous weapon, i guess one or two poison vials is ok, but that's it!! When hes pink, then take out your poison and curse vials. often curse will do more damage then any attack, thus the high demand for fausts in the palace. i personally have never beaten the royal jelly without curse, so you can easily solo him as long as you have curse vials on his 'blushing' mode.if ur gonna talk energy, talk before you go on the button.)

(ADD: Royal jelly is weak to elemental attacks. use this to your advantage.)

It's not actually weak. This is a damage display glitch that has been floating around for a while. --D0gr0ck 22:18, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Rare Drops

Jelly King dropped a Jelly Mail today after a rather tough 4P run. Luckily the guy that got it pointed it out, else I wouldn't have noticed. I've updated the pages to reflect the drop, and have screenshots for proof, if needed/requested. Adilor 20:41, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
