Before the spiral knights' flagship, ''Skylark'' crashed, Charoum went through basic training for exploration missions for when knights were shipped off to explore the unknown corners of space. Fast learner as he was he developed skills ready to take on even the hardest exploration missions. Though while in his dorm snoozing away the morning he awoke to the scream of sirens. The Skylark was being pull into a gravity field of an unknown planet. As knights scattered to the escape pods, he readied his equipment. The specialists and engineers were the first to be shipped off towards the planet. After he was given the signal to seal his door, he was shot off into the surface of the planet.
