Gremlin Mortafires carry large, Gun Puppy-shaped rocket launchers to unleash rockets on unsuspecting Knights. They walk a bit slower than other [[Gremlin]]s, and will only stop to aim at you when you're their target. It is impossible to attack them head on, due to the shield they also carry, so they must be attacked from behind by either sneaking behind them when they're readying an attack, or by [[freeze|freezing]] them in place. Mortafires have a chance of dropping their Rocket Launchers and shield, and when they do they are completely defenseless and cannot retaliate. The Rocket Launcher and shield can be picked up and/or thrown a short distance away to prevent the Mortafire regaining its shield and attacking abilities.

Gremlin Mortafires are a type of monster found in the Clockworks.

Traits

Gremlin Mortafires carry large, Gun Puppy-shaped rocket launchers to unleash rockets on unsuspecting Knights. They walk a bit slower than other Gremlins, and will only stop to aim at you when you're their target. It is impossible to attack them head on, due to the shield they also carry, so they must be attacked from behind by either sneaking behind them when they're readying an attack, or by freezing them in place. Mortafires have a chance of dropping their Rocket Launchers and shield, and when they do they are completely defenseless and cannot retaliate. The Rocket Launcher and shield can be picked up and/or thrown a short distance away to prevent the Mortafire regaining its shield and attacking abilities.

Note: This monster has status variants, but only the regular/fire and poison variant exist at this time. The others are currently not present in the game, nor are their offical names known.

Strategy

Mortafires will always try to face you to stop you from making front-on attacks. Get them to attack you, then run around to their back where they are defenseless. Alternatively, throwing a fire pot at them will cause Mortafires to occasionally drop their rockets, leaving them vulnerable for a short period of time while taking fire damage.

Being inflicted with a status will occasionally cause them to drop their gear. Use this to your advantage by dropping haze bombs near them and then attempting to hit their back.
