The Punkin King is a monster resembling an animated gourd that was added as part of the Dark Harvest Festival. He spawns in special lairs that have a chance to appear within Clockwork Tunnel-style levels in a similar fashion to Danger Rooms. Punkin King lairs and Danger Rooms are not mutually exclusive, meaning both can potentially appear in the same level.

Dark Harvest Festival

This annual event honors the mischievous Punkin King in order to ensure a healthy fall harvest for Haven. All Clockwork Tunnels-style levels like Power Complexes and Blast Furnaces now have a chance of featuring special rooms inhabited by the Punkin King. Simply hop on the party pad and discover if the Punkin King has candy tokens or something else in store for you! There is also a Prestige Mission available daily throughout the event that gives you a guaranteed encounter with the Punkin King. Both via the Arcade or the Prestige Mission, Tier 1 awards the fewest candy tokens while Tier 3 the most candy tokens. For more information [1]

Punkin King

The Punkin King, lurking deep within his hallowed lair.

Punkin King lairs resemble Graveyards, and their appearance sharply contrasts the mechanical appearance of the Clockwork Tunnels they reside in. They consist of a pathway leading up to a large room with gravestones, several fire jars, and a party button in front of which the Punkin King waits. The King can be struck with weapons, but cannot be harmed until the button is activated. Once all players in the party stand on the button, the Punkin King will cackle and reveal to the players what he has in store for them by randomly saying either "TRICK" or "TREAT."

Strategy

When he shouts "TREAT," he drops 10 random candy tokens and disappears.

When he shouts "TRICK," undead minions called "Gourdlings" spawn from about 10 respawning pads around the room. These can function either like Zombies or Bombies, except they have less HP. If one is chosen for the battle, the other won't be spawned. The Bombie-like Gourdlings can easily kill players as they chase down the Punkin King, while the Zombie-like ones are more of a hindrance. They respawn almost instantly after killed.

During the Trick, the Punkin King himself will bounce around the room at random, attempting to avoid knights to some extent. He will drop one random candy token for the first three to six hits that are landed on him, regardless of damage. After that, a certain amount of damage must be inflicted before he will be defeated, at which point he will disappear and drop the remainder of his 10 tokens in center(ie., if he already dropped 4 tokens he will drop 6 more). If the knights can't defeat him in a certain period of time (i.e. by getting blown up as they try to chase him), he will disappear without dropping any more tokens.

Tokens

His only drops are three tokens, which can be spent at Maskwell for masks. These tokens can also be bought from Bulky.

History

During the 2012 Dark Harvest Festival, the Punkin King has resistances like that of an Undead monster, resisting Shadow damage and having a weakness to Elemental.
