I'm the player C418 if you were wondering. If you know me in game you'll certainly know how I spelt my in game name.
Your Edit Question
- -This is just a wiki thing. Sometimes new versions of image files take a while to update, I've seen it take up to two weeks, or even less than a day. That box outlined with red on the upload page that says:
There are currently issues with uploading new versions of images already on the wiki. (The issue is being looked into. Please do NOT reupload or revert it several times as it will not help.)
explains the gist of it. -Novaster 13:16, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
Another possibility is that you've uploaded a file type that the page doesn't have listed in its code, to fix, simply add this line to the GuildInfo (under the name field) in the edit page:
{{GuildInfo
| name = GUILDNAME
| type = ???
| more blahblah
}}
where ??? = gif, png, jpg
These solutions are generally preferable to uploading images with different filenames because the wiki likes to use things in tables, but for freeform pages (like user, guide, and guild pages) this doesn't really matter. -Novaster 13:23, 25 December 2014 (UTC)- Many thanks I'll try my best not to. - Sireux
Uploading New images that are official
Hmm - you can upload things to odd names like this all you want as long as they're for personal use, but there is a system in place on the wiki for official file naming and tagging (see the style guide in the left navigation panel). Regarding uploading new versions of files:
Sometimes wiki editors are in the middle of a project, but that takes time to set up/collect data so things get delayed. I was working on redoing eyes with an easier item so future editors don't have to spend time finding the same costume or spend resources making a gear item if they wish to contribute to the wiki. I'd certainly like some help with this! Due to the rarity of some of the eyes, it's taking a while...so help would be cool. Your upload reminded me about this project, honestly I forgot and yes - these could all be better!
If you want to upload a new version of a file that has been uploaded within the past, say, six months (vs a year or more) and there hasn't been a game update warranting a change, contact the uploader about it first on their talk page to make sure there isn't a project like this going on. (Who asked you to upload a higher res version?) Be sure to use appropriate image tags too. A list of the various different kinds of images can be found here. For the eyes image, the tag would be {{bodymod image}}. If you want to help with this project, please take pictures of eyes in cyan as you have, I like that - the icons are close to cyan. But do so in cobalt helm instead. Cobalt body would be better, I forgot to do that in the first snowflake pic. Any more questions, ask on the wiki editors' forums. -Novaster 22:58, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, here are three pictures to help (use cobalt - it's a nice open helm that shows the eyes well, and all players get it as a mission reward for free):
- File:NovasterTips-eyes-1.png the frame we should use to keep the files consistently sized - it is 132x132, but when the frame is removed, all images will end up being 130x130.
- 200px image depicting the position of the frame in a screenshot so that images are consistently oriented
- File:NovasterTips-eyes-3.png the final cropped image, 130x130 for eye images, able to be uploaded "officially".
- I've done a few examples in on the eyes page. I am happy that you have a desire to help! -Novaster 23:50, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
