:: Information

A long time player of Spiral Knights, Time is a quiet, yet heart warming and friendly fighter, whose agility and skills in combat can
overcome the most complex of situations. Quite flexible in combat, and can adapt to nearly any situation. The-Time-Keeper
continues to fight for KoE, and is more than happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Tips and Trinkets

  • Candlestick Keep - Green coloured benches and chairs are always breakable. Purple ones are not.
  • The Maximum Health one could obtain in in Spiral Knights is 64 pips.
    • |Base Health - +5
    • |Ancient Plate Helm and Armour - +16
    • |Scarlet Shield - +2
    • |Highest Shadow Lair Vitapod Ever Recorded - +29
    • |Two Penta-Heart Trinkets - +12
  • For those who wonder why the Antigua is far different than those of the Sentenza and Peacemaker lines: Long ago, The Blackhawk and Sentenza's damage type used to be a split between Shadow and Piercing, as did the Silversix and Argent Peacemaker's damage type was a split between Piercing and Elemental

Random Thoughts and Filly Dilly Dally

  • I have a hoarding problem with Light Shards. Last count: 8511 ._.
  • I dislike players who (commonly) use the Love aura on the Almirian Crusader Armour. In my opinion, quite frankly, it corrupts the armour's divine originality.
  • Darkfire Troll-Darth Gaben-Bama Vana-Hitler. Help us all...
  • A marshmallow, a tree, a chicken, and some dictionaries walk into another tree and ask "What do you do read?" "I do read Do!"
  • Favourite enemy: Ice Jellies. Least favourite: Shock Fiends

The Status Dilemma

I've noticed that many players question the degree of resistance that five star Status Trinkets give to a player. The following photo taken in Spiral knights that explains this topic in a simple form.

Trinket sample.jpg

A Snarbolax Cap and a Vog Cub Coat are represented in this picture. The Vog Cub Coat has a Stun resistance of Medium (gained from a single uv). Two Five star Sleep resistant trinkets are also represented here.

As seen above, Two five star sleep trinkets give the value of the Vog's fire resistance, which both equal a Maximum increase in protection, However, I have recently seen that many players argue about the levels of resistance; some believe
that the Snarbolax's Cap (or Coat) gives resistances of Freeze and Poison in Very High values. This could mistakenly be assumed as it appears directly in between the ends of the Maximum and Medium bars of Stun and Sleep/Fire.
However, this is not the case. Remember, as with armour and weapon damage, the value of each blue bar is greater than the last. It may appear that the Freeze and poison represent Very High values (based on the image), but they
are of a High increment of status resistance.

However, this brings up a confusing problem. If (proved) a five star status resistance trinket equals that of a Medium Increase, then how can two trinkets equal a value of Maximum increase?
Relating to the topic discussed, it could be safe to assume that trinkets are added together by Appearance, and not by the integrated increment levels of the Blue bars. If each "low" is represented
as a solid 1, then 2(medium)+2(medium) should equal 4. Surprisingly, another theory arises: What if the Blue bars each represent an equal value, and the determinants of low to maximum! are not as simple as 1 to 6 in numerical terms?
Such an instance, for example, could be explained by: 1 (low) 2 (medium) 2.5 (high) 3 (very high) 3.33 (ultra) 3.66 (maximum!). This example (and as just an approximation) provides reasoning and the theory of a dynamic increase per level.

The complication of combining and mixing bonuses of status resistances remains an analogy of multiple assumptions and theories that have yet to be proved by the developers of Spiral Knights. Quite an interesting phenomenon, if I may say.

Vanaduke Notes:

Here are just a few weapons, armour, and etc. that I would recommend for Vanaduke. Now this doesn't mean you HAVE to have these, but these are just very useful in situations within that place.

Prequel Tips: Undead swipes can sometimes light you on fire, not just the breath.
Trojans can shock you when they charge up their attack power.
Try to let yourself believe that the radius of a fire block is larger than you would expect.

On with the equipment Recommended:

Glacius
Divine Avenger
Leviathan Blade (For the Normal damage on the boss, and Fire slimes)
Gran Faust (Fire slimes, mostly)

Blitz Needle
Plague Needle(The charge of these weapons are very powerful versus Vanaduke and The back of Trojans. The Plague is more of a side weapon that is good when used with other players during the battle of Vanaduke)
Prisma Driver (If you're a heavy gunner)

Shivermist Buster (Excellent Defensive Tactic for Vanaduke)
Electron Vortex

Barbarous Thorn Shield (This goes well with Spike defense, and has a Sword Damage bonus Medium)
Crest of Almire (A great shield of major defense of Normal and Shadow, with Fire and Shock defense)
Swift strike Buckler (If you're good at dodging and Have both swords and Guns, this is great)
Omega Shell (This is a good overall defense from everything, even more so if you can obtain a fire defense variant on it)
Volcanic Plate shield (Though a tad less defense in elemental, piercing, and shadow, this has even more physical defense. It also already has stun and fire resistance)

Vog Set (This is good for Fire defense and/or if you enjoy a fast sword speed)
Crown/Armour of the Fallen set (Here is something to invest in if you don't want to wait for or are not quite willing to obtain the Snarbolax set. This had a good shadow and fire defense, and even has an attack speed increase low (per armour piece) for all weapons) (However, note that you will do much less damage to the fiend family (including Trojans)
Divine Veil/Mantle set (Here is a fantastic defense of very high Elemental, Shadow, Fire, and shock, with even a bonus versus Undead) (Though powerful in defense, it has no Certain weapon bonuses, no Attack speed increase, and [Important] No physical defense. Watch your back)
Snarbolax set (This does well with both normal and shadow damage, with a very good sword damage increase. However, you do not have any fire defence, so take care around flames)

I might add more to this if you (specifically the person whom asked about this) would like some more opinions about this.

Custom Music

I've been recieving a lot of replies of how to replace music in Spiral Knights. The following will cover the basic steps in doing so.

Before you try and locate where the Spiral Knight's sound and music files are, you first need to make sure that the audio you would want is in an Ogg Vorbis format (example.ogg).
To do this, you will first require a kind of audio converter (if the file you've chosen is not already in ogg format). Most types of audio software should do.

(Examples no longer provided due to Spiral Knights Wiki terms of use)

When you have collected the music you would like to use, you then need to locate your Spiral Knights folder in the Windows or Macontosh directory.
If you are a Knight that is connected to Steam, the directory should be as, or close to the same example path as below.

Program Files \ Steam \ SteamApps \common \ spiral knights \ rsrc \ sound \ music

However, If you are not connected to Steam
the Steam and steamapps folders may be in the name of Three Rings or Sega.

Finally, when you have found the music folder, containing the Spiral Knights music, STOP and don't replace the music quite yet.

Make a two folders: a backup folder of the Spiral knights music (Folder Example 1) , and another folder that contains the new music in Ogg format (Folder Example 2).

First, take time to find the music you would like to replace by opening each file up in your Audio editing program. Rename the music you've selected exactly as the audio file that is presented in the game, and then save them into (Folder Example 2).
After selecting, converting, renaming, and saving all of your desired replacement music, copy the ORIGINAL Spiral Knights Ogg files into (Folder Example 1),
and finally copy your music in (Folder Example 2) into the Spiral Knights audio folder.
