The following are unnoficial Wiki Images made by users to facilitate understanding in strategic map images:

General:

Map-icon-start.png = where a knight starts. The design is reminiscent of an elevator grate - usually a knight starts out standing on a grate that's settled into the floor.

Map-icon-arsenal.png = An arsenal station or similar area where knights can change their gear.

Map-icon-partybutton.png = party button. Let's group up and go! This party button simply allows progression.

Map-icon-clockworks-function.png = there's something important here, like a statue, water orb, or ghost block etc. that should be taken care of.

Map-icon-gate-energy.png = this gate is opened with energy.

Helper Entities:

Map-icon-spawner-health.png = this spawner generates infinite health. Hurray!

Map-icon-ally.png = A combat ally. This can be either an NPC knight that needs rescuing, or a turret that's already powered, and so on.

Map-icon-noenergy.png = something here uses energy to be activated. This could be a mecha knight or a mecha turret.

Dangerous:

Map-icon-clockworks-hazard.png = there's a particularly nasty clockworks hazard here, like a large wall trap that requires more thought than lesser traps.

Map-icon-partybutton-fight.png = party button. If this button is activated, a fight will begin.

Map-icon-gate-dangerous.png = This area is isolated, usually behind a gate, and is very dangerous - a Danger Room is a good example.

Map-icon-spawner-enemy.png = this spawner generates infinite enemies. Best to ignore them or trap them somehow.

Map-icon-battle-ambush.png = Surprise monster fight. Sometimes there's not a party button. You should be prepared to be trapped here with one or more monsters, and a fight is the only way out!

Map-icon-battle-bigmonster.png = A large nasty monster spawns or waits here. It's almost a miniboss, but not quite. Ready your weapons!

Sometimes these monsters are defeated only under special circumstances. Example: some Battlepods will self-destruct only when all enemy waves are defeated.

Map-icon-battle-boss.png = a boss waits to be fought here.

Loot:

Map-icon-loot-minerals.png = there's a bunch of Minerals in the area.

Map-icon-loot-boxes.png = there's a bunch of Treasure Boxes in the area.
