Howdy, I've done an experiment with the [http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Category:Military-Themed Military-Themed category page]. I've put the category tag on all the military-themed accessories in the game. I think it works pretty well, as these acc don't have their own pages, and thusly wouldn't show up in a category search. Would this sort of thing be condoned? If so, I'd love to go through and add theme tags to all the image files of accessories.

EDIT: oh no I got excited and did it to ancient accessory image files too. [[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 08:13, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

: This is the sort of thing that is best discussed in the [http://forums.spiralknights.com/es/forum/14 Wiki Editors forums], as it's best to have a consensus before making any major change. Whatever the majority agrees upon is fine with me! --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 17:17, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

=== Thanks ===

Thanks for getting rid of those ultra-specific category pages, obviously they didn't work out as planned! (Really thanks, not sarcasm). -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 07:11, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

:You're welcome! They were marked for immediate deletion with no comments. Didn't have time to clear everything in the deleted category, however, but will try to continue doing that in the next few days. --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 18:30, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

=== Could you look at: ===

If you have the time, can you look at either (or both) of the "[[Template:WeaponInfo]]" and "[[Template:Equipment see also]]" templates? I'm not sure which one would be better to edit for this goal, but if I had to guess, it would be the "see also" one. We're trying to have a link to specific guides based on what item type is on the page - so a Sword (like the [[Sudaruska]]) would link to the [[Swordmaster Guide]] in the "See Also" section. I fiddled around with them but nothing worked exactly like we wanted it to. Sadface. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 16:49, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

:Is [[User:Clotho/sandbox_1|this]] what you are looking for? -- [[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 23:33, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

::Tested it out, but it's not registering the right switch - it's still not "communicating" with the weaponinfo template. Feels like it's getting closer, though. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 01:13, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

::: If you want it to interact with the weaponinfo template using the "type" from that template, but at the same time being separate templates, then I can't help - way above my wiki magic tricks :)  Right now it needs its own type to be specified within this template, i.e. <nowiki>{{Equipment see also|type= Foo}}</nowiki>.  That said, how about [[User:Clotho/sandbox_1|this version]]?

::::Hmm, personally I like it but, the other wiki people probably won't "go for it," since pages have the "See Also" at the bottom in general. It might also lead to too much clutter in a "general info" box. Gotta love those standard formatting issues. It's good to have this option in case the future demands something similar. We'll just link to a general category page for all of the guides (probably - something that has yet to be made), that seemed to be the plan B in the forums. The thought process would be something like "hmm...I was just on a sword page...I should probably...pick the sword guide out of the rest of these guides! Yes!" Great challenge/effort though... Thanks for looking into it! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 16:56, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

::::P.S. - Trying out [[:Category:Guides (Player Made)|this Category Page]] (linked to it in the "Equipment See Also" template used on equipment pages), we'll see if people like it! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 17:21, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

===Categories: "Category:Redirects from alternate names "===

I love this cat tag! Thanks for bringing it back into the light. Anyway, a few things in there are actually named properly in-game (sometimes the "game files" and "in-game names", and even vs. the dev posts ("floral halo"! Oh dear! All is forgiven :P), are not in sync - so going with the in-game term feels the most comfy. I went in and did some fixes. This "prize box project" I'm working on is sure exposing a lot of holes.-[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 01:22, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

P.S - I think this logic works: if there's ever more, for example, "dust bunny tails", then we'll fix the "dust bunny tail" to not have this "alternate name" category, and probably either redirect the "lovely dust bunny tail" to the new "dust bunny tail" page, or delete the individual page entirely (I'm loath to make redirects for color styles of non-unique accessories - people rarely type all that out and boy, the clutter on the category pages!). This happened quickly with "lovely bent vertical vents" and the later released "bent vertical vents" - for that one, I did a redirect...still missing a pic of unattached volcanic. Grrr. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 01:37, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

: Hee, I love those tags too. it's hard to know where to draw the line between adding a redirect or not - just use your best judgment, that usually works! As for the inconsistencies, if there are any 'official' pages that need to be updated to the in-game name, please let me know and I'll take care of it. --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 02:14, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

== Usables Project ==

Gosh, I had a lot of time today! Anyway:

Trying to get pages nice and organized with capital letters and such, so less-than-ideal pages can be deleted properly - I can't edit [[Starter Pack old|This Page]] or [[Deluxe Starter Pack|This Page]] - All they need are capital As for heat amps, and then the bad "Heat amplifier" page can go away forever. (Replaced with "Heat Amplifier."). Usually I find that the wiki hiccups once or twice, then registers the capital letter change - but that could just be something weird with my browser. Is it like this for everyone? If not, I feel a bit silly fiddling around with capital letters. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 05:52, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

===Supply Depot Page===

Hello, I see that the [[Supply Depot]] page has been protected, so we can't edit it. I get it, it's a very important page! But it's a bit lacking in information regarding the flash sales. I'd love to add a picture and a few other things - I feel like linking to the forum logs ([http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/104602 this] is one of them) for the "flash sales" might be beneficial to players - certainly, having a dedicated log of all sales (and all the items in that sale, with their duration and price) would be great, but it is difficult for us users to accurately and officially track ''everything''. I've suggested that the GMs give us logs, at least after the sales, but have not heard much on this note (desire for a GM-released log came from two thoughts: to prevent various scam techniques, as well as being generally useful). Anyway, could the Supply Depot page be unprotected so we can add clarity to the "flash sales" in the "specials" section? -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 15:04, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

:Thanks a bunch!  I've added a link to another page, so us editors can update that with information on future flash sales without blocking issues. My edits are done. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 21:45, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

::Okay I had to add one more thing. I am very sure I'm done now! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 22:46, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

==Broken Link==

There seems to be a broken link on the [[Release/all]] page, and we can't edit that page. It's red text for "developers." You fixing that would be super awesome! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 23:39, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

:Oh it's fixed! Hurray! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 17:39, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

==Spacing Issue==

I can't figure out why the template for Weapons causes a space at the top of a page, while the Armorinfo template does not. [http://imgur.com/vpk3Y98 This] is an image demonstrating the difference. I'd like to eliminate the space there (whyyyyyy in the image), but I can't figure out how. Is it the template? Or my browser? Or just magic? I'd love for the spacing to be like the Armorinfo template. If you have time, could you look at what might be causing this? Some editors are talking about the page format itself (like whether or not to say "blahblah is a blah star item" - I say yes! This is consistent! Anyway...), but keeping spacing consistent for these templates would be a good idea in general. Thanks, -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 19:25, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

:Looking at template history...and that's all it was!? Thanks so much for fixing that. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 01:56, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

===Missions Category===

So I noticed that we [http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/105574 don't have a missions category]. The [[Operation Crimson Hammer]] page is protected, so we can't edit it. Would you mind adding the [[:Category:Missions]] tag to it? Thanks! Honestly it could use more screenshots...and more info about secrets and strategy...I understand why it's protected, and kind of wish it was possible to just protect single sections of pages. Is it? So we can't mess up billing info? argh. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 17:39, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

:Category added. How about creating a sandbox with the additions and I'll copy/paste it once it's ready? --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 17:54, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

::A sandbox with all my additions/requests or just regarding the missions category? This was the only one I think. Also thanks :) -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 00:52, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

:::Oh, I thought there were a lot of changes to the page, ignore that please! --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 21:37, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

==Missing Promotional Images==

official "Icons" (not usable "prize box" icons - examples: [[File:Ancientbox icon.png|38px]], [[File:Colossalbox icon.png|38px]], etc.) for these promotions are missing:

Not "buy this box via purchase" per-say:

*anniversary prize box

*Dark Harvest prize box

*frosty prize box

*companion prize box

These are not your typical...profit-box? haha. Anyway, not sure if these get official icons, as they're not part of billing and so on.

"Profit Boxes" - promotional image icon thing missing:

*decoration kit prize box

*elite trinket

*gobble snipe box

*gourmet prize box

*nemesis prize box (this also needs an Admin wiki page creation in general)

*obsidian prize box

*polar prize box

*winterfest prize boxes

Oh and, the "blooming,"  "equinox", "katastrophe", "rage", "rose regalia," "Slime," "Splash", and "Surprise" icon things could use that interesting... "protection tag?" Some of the others do, these don't, dunno why, seems odd to me :D. So I thought I'd mention it. The "stormy" one has a different tag, might as well mention that too.

I see that '''Thalia''' usually posts the promotional pages but, Thalia doesn't have a Talk page yet, so, I didn't know exactly how to politely post this request, but here it is!

Hope I didn't miss any.

I don't know where I get the editing energy from, it just comes and goes.

-[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 07:14, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

: I'll try to get the missing icons, but it may take a few days. Thanks! --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 17:56, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

===Accessories and Lockboxes===

I went in today and fixed up a few things for accessories - namely ToC issues and a nice acquisition column (was another player's suggestion that I agreed with wholeheartedly). ([http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/102232 "Trivia" vs. "Notes" forum discussion] in there for the ToC stuff). My main worry is the accuracy of some of the Lockbox availabilities for many of the accessories - it would be nice to get confirmation on all [[Lockbox]] drops, if possible. This is a rather large/serious request, and many players would appreciate it (I'm very sure - they're the only boxes we gamble with but don't have an official, complete drop table for). All we know is that the drop table has been changed over time (with [http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Release_Notes_2012-04-18 release notes like these]. Thanks! -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 01:06, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

::The wiki is a community project and in general we rely on the consensus of the player community for such decisions, unless it's something that goes against the style guide/policy. As for release, I'm afraid I don't have a way to find that information easily and sending a query to the developers is out of the question. However, I can take a look and see what I can find. Which items are the ones that need fact-checking? --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 18:23, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

A Big Project

Hello, as you can see from a ton of sandbox edits lately, we're trying to build a thing! This thing could be pretty major, so I think it would be smart to ask for staff opinion(s).

It's a list that can sort things via name, damage or defense type, resistances, abilities, penalties, and star, and so on, depending on the type of item.

I want to make this because a lot of players seem to have trouble finding certain item types and comparing items. After several months of this on the bottom of my "things I could try to do for the wiki in my spare time of which I have too much" I decided to get goin on it.

Naturally, I went to the forums to get more opinions.

So we've a lot of us have been putting lots of thought into this, and people seem to like the idea in general, but to sum up the forum discussion, we're not having an efficient time deciding on format.

Some opinion(s) on something this large from staff would be great, and, smart to get, yeah? -Novaster 01:10, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

Oh, also, can we get confirmation about the order of release for items? I've checked release/all but it doesn't mention everything :)/ -Novaster 21:19, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
