Usage
To tag a page as a redirect from a file page to an existing file page.
This tag should only be used to track files which have been redirected to ensure that linking does not result in directing users to empty or deleted pages (especially from external linking).
Files or "empty" files are redirected for the following reasons:
- Moving to a more appropriately named file. Such moves are sometimes needed for template consistency after files have been haphazardly uploaded to inconsistent names, or if the entity's name in-game changes significantly.
- If the move command fails or cannot be completed, the page of the file to be redirected has to be deleted and the "empty" file page manually redirected to the desired file page.
- Moves cannot be completed if the destination file page is already occupied, which occurs when editors wish to fix various issues quickly, tagging the older files for the process later.
- Occasionally, move commands fail for unknown reasons.
- "Empty" file pages that would be large - filesize wise - duplicates of existing files. This method is mostly used for News images with "big" in the file name. This redirecting is not used for small files such as accessory icons. This requires careful editor foresight, because duplicate files are a big no-no in the wiki editing world, but for a game wiki certain certain exceptions are made.
