General
- An early ad features the words "It's dangerous to go alone, take these!" This is a popular reference to the Old Man in The Legend of Zelda when given the Wooden Sword states "It's dangerous to go alone, take this!"
- Mission 4-3, "Elemental My Dear" is a reference to a quote of famous Sherlock Holmes: Elementary, my dear Watson.
Locations
- Mount Krampus is a reference to Dr.Seuss' children's book How the Grinch Stole Christmas where The Grinch's home is located on Mount Crumpet. It's also referencing Krampus, a folklore beast who punishes Naughty Children and captures particularly naughty children in his sack and carry them away to his lair.
- Wolver Den: Raving Rabids is a reference to the spin-off Rayman: Raving Rabbids.
Monsters
- The Monster Jelly Green Giant is a reference to the Jolly Green Giant of canned and frozen veggie fame
- The Snarbolax is a reference to a Lewis Carroll's story. In particular, Jabberwocky.
- The Grinchlin Stalkers, Grinchlin Scorchers, and Grinchlin Twackers are all references to the character The Grinch from the classic Dr.Seuss' children book How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
- The Apocrean Harvester is either a reference to the entity Cthulhu from the works of H.P. Lovecraft or the Slender Man.
Equipment
Swords
- Voltedge's description mentions "1.21 gigawatts." This is a famous reference to the 1985 movie, Back to the Future, in which 1.21 gigawatts of power were required to allow the DeLorean to travel through time.
- The Divine Avenger's appearance bears a resemblance to Sonic and The Black Knight's Excalibur Sword.
Handguns
- Callahan's name and description are a direct reference to the 1971 movie, Dirty Harry.
- Sentenza's description mentions have been wielded by one who possessed "Angel Eyes." This is a reference to the 1966 movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Bombs
- Ash of Agni's description is a reference to the 2012 movie, The Dark Knight Rises. In the film, the main antagonist, Bane tells Batman "Once Gotham is in ruins, then you have my permission to die."
- The Graviton Charge line's visual design (with the exception of Obsidian Crusher) is a reference to Vaati, an antagonist in the Legend of Zelda series.
Shields
- Aegis is the name of the shield onto which Theseus placed the head of Medusa, the monster whose gaze turns people to stone in greek mythology. He then gave it to Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom and battle tactics.
Helmets
- The Heavy Demo Helm's description is a direct reference to the infamous line from Resident Evil, in which the protagonist is handed a lockpick and is told "Jill, here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you."
Armor
- Nameless Poncho is a shout-out to the Dollar Trilogy.
- Volcanic Demo Suit's description is a reference to the 1993 movie, Demolition Man
Costumes
- The Humbug Hat's description is a reference to Dr.Seuss' children's book How the Grinch stole Christmas in which The Grinch had a 'heart that was two sizes too small.'
- The Metal Sonic Mask and Metal Sonic Suit are references to Metal Sonic, one of Sonic's rivals from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The description is also referencing Eggman, the main antagonist of the franchise.
Accessories
- Tails Tails is a reference to Tails, Sonic's sidekick from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
Materials
- The Gremlin Gizmo's description is a direct reference to the 1984 movie, Gremlins
