==Icon Fixes==

Went through and "fixed" rarity icons. All that's left is outdated filenames on the [[Supply Depot]] page, which is currently protected, so I can't edit it. Would you mind changing the filenames to the ones used on the wiki now (all examples on [[Rarity]] page)? Or you could unprotect the page (again, haha - like you did so I could link to [[Supply Depot Sale]] stuff). The risk here is that I might not be online when it's unprotected, I suppose.

Just got fed up with a switch system, but I realize this sort of "reuploading things to better names" activity isn't ideal. There's a lot of inconsistencies on the wiki when it comes to this sort of thing (materials, perks, etc), and well, I've decided that it's not worth anybody's time (certainly not mine) to "fix" this sort of issue by reuploading files to better names, when you can just make an ugly (but functional) switch. There's more reasons than time though:

:1) the game could give multiple functions to a single entity, as with "buff" effects (pickup items as well as triggered by monsters on each other or battle sprites on knights is just one example) - I just fixed duplicate file issues regarding these today

:2) the game could change the arsenal classification of an item to be another arsenal classification, potentially rendering filenames inaccurate, and a hassle to "fix" if there's hundreds of them. But nobody really sees filenames except editors, so inaccurate filenames of this specific kind don't matter as long as published page content is clear, right?

:3) we are at risk of losing easy access to archive data using the "reupload to a better filename to fix" method. I've often used the date an original icon was uploaded to make sense of the order of events. For example, I used the file history of the accessory icons for several of the older Round Shade accessory items to try and discern the relative date Round Shades were first released (not everything has release notes or admin posts), and a few others.

In the future, I'll be sure to just deal with a messy switch that only editors who have to muck around with code have to see. I'll "fix" odds and ends that I see though, like if someone just uploads a file to ads;jkflhasdfjkh.jpg or something like that :)

should I put the above reasons in a sort of "how to wiki" guide (a few of us are planning on revamping the style guide page to be more up to date), if you think they're prudent/correct?

Hey there~ im wondering... do u guyz change the "upload a file" screen xd? I know u did a maintenance yesterday but everything was the same, then right now suddenly at exactly 5am (california time) the interface for uploading a file changed. It was a delay of the corrections or u guyz implemented it at that precisely moment xd? :I've stumbled upon it, too, after the maintenance. I've noticed both the changed upload page and additional links on the left. These things were lost when the wiki software got updated, so it was nice seeing them brought back. The reupload notice from the old upload page should stay, though. There is a problem with reuploading images and people who don't know about it often reupload the same image 3+ times thinking they messed up something when in reality they just have to wait for the wiki to update the image. --[[User:Matusm|Matusm]] ([[User talk:Matusm|talk]]) 14:29, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

::I agree with Matsum. :: I've fixed the icons. I'm not sure why you have to reupload them when it's so much easier to move the images to a better name. Just provide me with a specific list and the proposed names and I'll move them. --[[User:Clotho|Clotho]] 16:52, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

:::::Here's something to test (just capital letters) - the icons I mentioned below! Could we move the following like so:

:<nowiki>File:Buff attack icon.png >>> File:Buff Attack icon.png </nowiki>
+
:<nowiki>File:Buff defense icon.png >>> File:Buff Defense icon.png</nowiki>

:<nowiki>File:Buff movement speed icon.png >>> File:Buff Movement Speed icon.png</nowiki>

:<nowiki>File:Debuff attack icon.png >>> File:Debuff Attack icon.png</nowiki>

:<nowiki>File:Debuff defense icon.png >>> File:Debuff Defense icon.png </nowiki>

If the test works, shall we make a tag similar to "needs updating" for all files to be moved? I'll make it so editors put the new/desired filename destination in the tag. -[[User:Novaster|Novaster]] 23:35, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello there again Clotho~ Wanted to ask, i know the wikia have some issues (the biggest one being the cache of uploaded images) but i have noticed Categories and "What links here" having an issue too but i wonder, its this like the image-upload issue that in a few days it will show correctly?. Right now i have only tested the Categories and its been more than a month and the URLs hasnt been added to said categories. I have seen things in categories that when i check the image/link, its been months since the cat was removed but when u enter the cat the url/image its still there, so now, im seeing some problem with "What links here", it doesnt update to recent changes, like, Rocket Puppy's page should show it links from "Monster/All" but it doesnt, i noticed this a few weeks but i wonder if i wait it will show? I think it will not (sadly) but want to know what u know about this.

'''Examples:'''
I like how nice and high res [[File:Attack speed icon.png|36px]] is.
+
*[[:Category:Armor ankle attachment]]: Was created two years ago (May 2018) with a "hidden cat" tag but still doesnt hide the cat like the other categories of slot attachments, plus, it havent added the urls i have marked this past month, and they doesn't show in "What links here" either, but at least the Cat shows in the main page (like [[Splash Sarong]] for example, thats the most recent one i added).
 +
*[[ShadowTech Blue Down Puffer]]: Created this redirect a month ago and it still doesnt show in the [[:Category:ShadowTech Blue-Themed]], only images, for some reason, some images work and other doesnt? usually the ones created with the cat are the ones that doesnt have problems (or thats what i have seen).
 +
*[[Recon (MotT)]]: This NPC doesnt show in its categories. I created that page recently.

Is there a way us editors can get our paws on higher quality versions of the following without doing heavy pixel editing ourselves (which leads to inaccuracy). These are not in game files in HQ as far as we can tell:
+
I think the error its being since 2017 approx cuz [[Smitty]] was created in July 2016 and it shows in the cat. Right now thats all the examples i remember. I wanted to use the "what links here" to check which pages have the name of a monster linked and easily see if im missing some entries in "locations" of said monster (as i did with the subgeographys pages) but the Monster template have "type#name" so Rocket Puppy in the monster template makes <code><nowiki>[[Gun Puppy#Rocket Puppy|Rocket Puppy]]</nowiki></code> so everything links to Gun Puppy and its way harded to see if the link mentions a Redhover or a gun puppy, or a rocket puppy for example... i have to open every page and check. When i change the monster template to link directly to monster single names, it sill will not help me since it will not show in "What links here" :(. Dunno if its an unreported issue and maybe i can be solved? Have a nice day! --[[User:HikaruFer|<b><font color="#265aa6">Hikaru</font><font color="#238e3b">FER</font></b>]] 22:08, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

If you get them, I'd like to upload them (or for them to be uploaded) to <strike>consistently lowercase letters,</strike> with only Buff or Debuff capitalized.
