Has Basil been entirely moved from the Clockworks? Or is he hiding in different levels that he used to...--Dwyn 09:08, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- Good question. Back near the end of Preview, I visited Low Gardens and Cravat Hall II. Never saw him there. I haven't been to those levels during OB, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone. Maget 21:35, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

recipe star-level distribution
I've noticed that the more crowns I have on me at the time I first transact with Basil when I find him, the more higher-star-level recipes he seems to have for sale. One time I talked to him (all these cases are on level 12) while holding over 30k crowns, and his stock was mostly 4* recipes, with a small amount of 2* and 3* ones. The next time I was holding around 12k crowns (and had about 12k crowns in buy bids on the energy market), and he had mostly 2* recipes with a smaller number of 3* and 4* recipes. The most recent time, I was holding a bit over 20k crowns and he had about equal numbers of all recipes (six 2*, four 3*, seven 4*).
Perhaps this is just a coincidence, and more trials will show there to be no correlation, but I thought it was worth noting. All three times I was adventuring solo.--Scrotch 01:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Two more trials: holding about 18k crowns gave mostly 3* recipes, while holding 8k gave an even distribution (four 2*, three 3*, five 4*).--Scrotch 16:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- So... On the 23rd and 24th, I had reached the terminal over 5 times, I was holding over 15k every time I went, hoping to find a 4* recipe. However each time I went, Basil was only selling 2*-3* recipes... DarthLOL 17:33, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- Going by these, there seems to be a loose correlation, if any. Perhaps it only modifies the odds of him carrying certain star levls?--Skelatox 23:20, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- I encountered him with a mere 3000 crowns in my pocket, in Tier2, and he was carrying maybe 2 2* recipes, a large amount of 3*, and a VERY large amount of 4* recipes. I was with a group at the time, if that helps. CrashFu
- I seriously doubt that it's affected by how many crowns you're carrying. --Equinox 21:07, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Information on Star Levels of Recipes
This is from what I recall. I'm sure about the Tier 3 thing as I encountered a swiftstrike buckler recipe the other day. Edit/comment away until we come to an agreement & can corrected info on the page. --Equinox 21:07, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- At tier 2 he will sometimes sell a Thwack Hammer recipe. But I've never seen him sell any other 1-star recipes beside that on tier 2. --Alfwyn 22:50, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- Tier 1: 1-3 star
- Tier 2: 2-4 star
- Tier 3: 3-5 star
Basil's Changed?
It seems as though Basil now offers a fixed set of items at each mid-point, every day. Just dove three or four times yesterday, his items offered never changed. Different parties each time. --Crazy10101 10:28, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Duplicate Recipes
Should it be worth noting he can offer duplicate recipes? I took a screenie of him selling 2 Magic Cloak Recipes I'm just unsure whether or not it would be considered important... ExTribble 04:46, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

- Yeah, noticed it again yesterday. Same duplicate of the Magic cloaks, so unless I have absurdly unusual luck, it seems to be a possibility only when that recipe pops up. Considering it's so specific, I agree that there's no need to mention it. ExTribble 02:05, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

0 Recipes In Stock
It'd be really nice to know the exact conditions required to have the recipes in stock. From what I've heard, it has something to do with what depth you started on. Basil replaced at subtowns with the Supply Depot
Basil used to be present at each Subtown location, but not any more. When the Supply Depot was introduced, it replaced Basil at both Subtown locations.
List of Basil-exclusive recipes
Just found it a little strange that there's a detailed list of what he carries before missions, but no mention of the recipes available from Basil and Basil alone - after all, these are the main reasons behind "Basil runs" (and why he hasn't been replaced by HoH). Most of these seem like common knowledge among the longer-toothed knights in-game, but I've started compiling some recipes to update the page with.
