Recent forays beneath the surface of Haven have turned up numerous dens that are home to a family of creatures we have designated "Wolvers". They are extremely agile and ferocious, and appear to travel in packs led by a stronger, more dangerous beast known as an "Alpha Wolver".

Any knights who are adventuring underground are strongly advised to read up on these dangerous foes and, if confronted by one on a mission, to shoot first and worry about reading the wiki later!

Large deposits of mysterious minerals have recently been spotted throughout the Clockworks! Spiral HQ has begun utilizing these exceptional elements to construct new subterranean gates for knights to explore in Haven's Arcade, and you can help!

Any knight who happens across a supply of these minerals is asked to collect them and immediately transport them to the Arcade. In the meantime, we suggest you read more on what we know about these minerals and how we've been using them to construct gates so that you're fully prepared!

Remember, knights: all rescue pods are stocked with a standard-issue Proto Sword, Proto Gun, Proto Shield and full set of Spiral Armor in case of a crash-landing in hostile territory. Familiarizing yourself with these and other weapons and armor will be key to your survival on this new world!

Other weapons of particular interest to new arrivals include the Punch Gun, which has been adapted from a tool used to blast open pod doors, and the Slime Slasher, which is a heavily-modified entrenching tool suitable for combat use against slimes. The wiki has more info on the full range of arms and armor for those of you who are particularly thorough knights!

One of the major challenges Spiral HQ has faced after the crash is the question of trade for basic supplies with this new world's inhabitants. Thankfully, this question was answered for us very early on, as many of you have proven quite adept at acquiring Crowns, the local currency!

It won't be long until you're all swimming in "shinies" yourselves, so today we're going to help make certain that you can tell a 1-Crown piece from a 50-Crown piece, lest you end up risking life and limb in the Clockworks over a sum too small to buy anything from a vending machine!

After nearly four years of development, Spiral Knights has officially launched today. This is a huge moment for me, the Spiral Knights team and all of Three Rings and I am so happy to be able to share it with them.

I consider myself privileged to be among the ranks of the very talented Spiral Knights team. Creating this game was a really fun and rewarding experience. I think everybody involved learned a great deal as we are a very small team, so wearing lots of hats was a requirement.

Tread with caution when you enter the slime-covered halls of the Royal Jelly Palace. Recon Knights have gathered that this ancient, open-air castle has been overtaken by a legion of slimes, the most fearsome of which is a 'Royal Jelly.'

Like any unruly king, it has a short fuse and loves to throw its weight around. We cannot be certain under what lineage or authority this oozing aristocrat claims noble descent, but we would still caution those traveling in its palace to stay vigilant and come prepared with Poison vials and weapons, in addition to a full complement of knights!

The Strangers have been hard at work making Haven a more welcoming place for the recent influx of knights, and so several new amenities are now available in the Town Square: an Auction House, and an Advanced Training Hall!

The Clockworks have just revealed a new, perilous boss stratum for Tier 1 Knights to challenge, The Gloaming Wildwoods. However, new recruits should take heed - this dense forest is home to a fearsome creature known as the Snarbolax.

Said to be a massive beast draped in living shadows, this dark predator enjoys toying with its prey before delivering the final blow. It is advised that only Knights who have mastered Tier 1 take on this formidable beast as those who have entered unprepared have never returned!

Within the depths of Tier 2 a new gremlin weapons facility has been discovered, The Ironclaw Munitions Factory. Intel from Spiral HQ has confirmed that under a direct mandate from the Crimson Order, gremlin engineers have begun developing a weapon of incredible power. Known only as 'Project Roarmulus,' this weapon has been designed with the sole purpose of destroying Haven!

Knights are ordered to infiltrate this harrowing complex of devious destructive devices and put an end to 'Project Roarmulus' as well as recover a recon module of the Alpha Squad. Take heed though, gremlins don’t exactly believe in a 'safe' work environment.

King Krogmo has officially opened his monster resort, King Krogmo's Coliseum. This battle sport arena allows Knights to duke it out for fantastic prizes!

The first event, Blast Network, is now available with more events on the way soon. Blast Network is a highly explosive event that pits Knights against each other and equips them with instant-charging bombs. The object of the game is to blow the competition to smithereens! Blast Network has no equipment requisites at all - simply join and get blasting whenever you like.

Two new species of monsters have been sighted lurking within the Clockworks: the polyp and the howlitzer.

The polyp is a slime turret that fires piercing barbs. Proceed with caution around this gooey gunner as Intel has discovered that it cannot be surprised! While a polyp has no true 'eyes' it can see in all directions at all times.

The howlitzer is an undead turret that fires shadowy bullets. Even if you manage to destroy this clacking cannon it always has one last trick up its sleeve- it fires its skull directly at its attacker like a missile!

The Spiral Knights Official Soundtrack is now available! This two disc set features thirty one extended, remixed and remastered tracks by composer Harry Mack.

So if you're a fan of the delightful sonic joy that is the music of Spiral Knights, head on over to your favorite online music vendor and pick it up!

A new Undead level series has appeared within the Clockworks- the Candlestick Keep. These haunted grounds are all that remains of the once prosperous Owlite Academy. Though now overtaken by spookats and other undead horrors, Knights will find Owlite ward candles scattered about the Keep that will save them from what lurks in the dark.

Deep within the Tier 3 clearance zone of the Clockworks, Spiral HQ has discovered a terminal containing elevators leading to what are being referred to as Shadow Lairs. Knights who have ventured within these strange new worlds have reported feeling a dreadful darkness enveloping them at every turn.

Shadow Lairs feature some of the most terrifying monsters of the Clockworks imbued with dark powers: madness has overtaken the Snarbolax, Lord Vanaduke has embraced the forbidden powers of Darkfire and now commands a legion of cursed undead, and the Royal Jelly has been usurped by a far more legitimate heir to the throne!

The Dark Harvest Festival is now being celebrated in Haven and will end on November 1st!

This annual event honors the mischievous Punkin King in order to ensure a healthy fall harvest. All Clockwork Tunnels-style levels like Power Complexes and Blast Chambers now have a chance of featuring special rooms inhabited by the Punkin King. Simply hop on the party pad and discover if the Punkin King has candy tokens or something else in store for you!

Remember, this event ends November 1st so collect all the candy you can and get those masks!

Many levels within the Clockworks now feature 'Arsenal Stations' that allow you to change your gear or loadouts before facing the challenges of a level. So long as you have a wide variety of equipment, a difficult stratum with varying themes will be no match for your arsenal!

Additionally, energy reviving now comes coupled with a powerful energy blast that knocks back and damages monsters! There are four levels of energy blasts to discover that should all greatly aid any Knights who find themselves knocked out and surrounded by the terrible denizens of the Clockworks.

New items are now available that allow you to change your height and eyes! These items work just like Personal Color items and are consumed once used.

Eyes change your eye type across any helm you wear, however not all helms allow you to see your eyes, like the Spiral Pith Helm.

Height Modifiers only affect the visual height of your knight and have no gameplay implications of any kind. They do not make you a larger/smaller target, offer greater/reduced reach, etc.

Danger Missions will begin appearing in your Prestige Missions at Rank 4-1, or once you have entered Tier 2.

Spiral HQ has uncovered a gremlin bioweapons facility deep within the Clockworks. Compound 42 is a new Danger Mission, intended for skilled players. It is available in the Prestige Mission section of the Mission interface.

Join Desna's Recon Rangers and explore the fiendish city of Amu-Sol. This frozen wasteland is home to a deranged and devilish cult plotting to put the entire Clockworks into a permanent state of deep freeze!

The entirety of Amu-Sol is swarming with frozen souls and deep within the heart of the city lies the source of it all: the cult's powerful leader, Maulos and a towering column of pure everfrost.

Heart of Ice is a new Danger Mission, intended for skilled players. It is available in the Prestige Mission section of the Mission interface.

Been sticking out like a sore thumb in Wolver Dens? Camouflage your knight appropriately with the deep green look of a true forest hunter! From now until 10:00 AM PDT on August 20th, 2012, the Haven Treasury is giving away free Hunter Prize Boxes with select energy purchases!

Spiral HQ has received a distress call from a derelict facility deep within the Clockworks.

The distress call came in the form of a digital message saying only 'save us.' Believing it to be a potential trap, Spiral HQ has deployed Desna's Recon Rangers to investigate the facility and assist anyone who may have sent the message.

Ghosts in the Machine is a new Danger Mission, intended for skilled players. It is available in the Prestige Mission section of the Mission interface.

A faint distress call finds its way from deep within the Clockworks to Cradle's surface. Is it a cry for help? Is it a trap? In any case, you'll need to be properly equipped to find out, and the Haven Treasury can help!

The Dark Harvest Festival is now being celebrated in Haven and will end on November 1st! This annual event honors the mischievous Punkin King in order to ensure a healthy fall harvest for Haven. All Clockwork Tunnels-style levels like Power Complexes and Blast Furnaces now have a chance of featuring special rooms inhabited by the Punkin King. Simply hop on the party pad and discover if the Punkin King has candy tokens or something else in store for you!

There is also a Prestige Mission available daily throughout the event that gives you a guaranteed encounter with the Punkin King.

Both via the Arcade or the Prestige Mission, Tier 1 awards the fewest candy tokens while Tier 3 the most candy tokens.

I wanted to provide the community with a sense of what's coming up in a future update to Spiral Knights.

Our recent projects, including Guild Halls, were selected based in part on feedback from players, both in the forums and from some of the surveying we do from time to time. The requests are, of course, many and varied; however, one of the frequently requested features for the game has been pets.

We've been exploring some ideas that combine elements of a pet-like feature to increase the variety and type of play available to players. We're calling this project 'Battle Sprites'.

Someone or something has summoned a horde of cursed black kats into the Clockworks. These shadowy beasts hunger for arcane power and raided the Moorcroft Manor Archives' precious collection of magical grimoires.

In the wrong hands these ancient tomes could be kata- er, catastrophic, but it turns out that black kats can't read, so they instead decided to just eat them.

The residents of Moorcroft Manor would like you to retrieve the Ancient Pages of the magical grimoires that quite likely reside in the stomachs of black kats. We'll leave you to figure out just how to recover them...

In the wake of a black kat attack, the ghostly residents of Moorcroft Manor are in need of funds to repair their Archives. Teaming up with the Haven Treasury, Moorcroft Manor is having a fire sale of all its extra furnishings and they can be a part of your Guild Hall!

Spiral Knights now has a new look thanks to a completely revamped user interface! This new UI features a number of new features and enhancements that we're sure you'll appreciate, including:

- A visible character portrait and new health display

- A shield power meter

- A weapon selection 'wheel'

- A much more detailed mini map, featuring enemy locations, NPCs and more

- A new Targeting UI that displays information about whatever you are targeting.

A new set of random levels have been added to the Clockworks, known as the Compounds. The Compounds feature the remains of some sort of unknown facility, where more intelligent monsters await, harvesting resources or perhaps attempting to power up the derelict machinery. However, just outside the confines of the facilities, hordes of mini monsters await in the brush, waiting to strike.

The Compounds are unique in that they combine two monster families and only appear in Tier 2 and 3 of the Clockworks.

Currently, Compounds levels will only appear in the Arcade but will be added to some missions in future updates.

A new class of monsters known as 'minis' now roams the Clockworks. Experienced knights shouldn't have much of a problem dealing with them, but beware, minis are prone to swarm in packs dozens strong.

- Dust bunnies: These beast-family minis are a hopping mad mess of fangs and fur. They are always hungry.

- Glop drops: The newest member of the slime family will slowly ooze their way toward their prey as a nasty blanket of spikes.

- Grave scarabs: These undead insects are always on the lookout for fresh corpses. Their limited flight signals their attacks.

A new fiend has been summoned from the Underworld to swell the ranks of the devilite workforce: the gluttonous gorgo! Gorgos are bulbous fiends who are constantly on the lookout for their next meal and have an appetite for mayhem that knows no bounds.

Gorgos will now appear alongside their devilite coworkers in any fiendish encounter within the Clockworks.

In order to help combat the ever-growing threat within the Clockworks, all Knights can now use two powerful abilities: the evasive dash and the stunning shield bash!

Dash allows you to dodge enemy attacks with a burst of speed and limited invulnerability. It can even be used in Lockdown for a whole new level of strategy!

Charge into battle using shield bash to damage, knock back, and stun your enemies!

To celebrate the release of the combat update introducing the lightning quick evasive dash and the thunderous shield bash, the Haven treasury is giving away unique prizes!

Battle Sprites, loyal combat companions to the Spiral Knights, will be available later this month! Sprites will level up, evolve, and gain unique capabilities.

The battle sprites update will introduce a host of new features, including powerful combat skills that all sprites can execute on your command. The three starter sprites; the drakon, seraphynx and maskeraith, each represent a different playstyle.

Here are the details regarding how a sprite plays, what their skills do in combat and the augments available on each skill that enhance them. Augments can be increased via skill points that are gained while leveling a sprite.

Items that acquire heat will no longer automatically level up when enough heat is required at the end of a level. Instead, a new type of item called ‘Fire Crystals’ must be used within a new interface called ‘The Forge’ in order to level up your items.

The Forge can be accessed in town or at any arsenal station. When an item is ready to level up, open the Forge and select the item. The item will require a certain number of a specific fire crystal to level up. However, in some cases there is a chance the forge will not succeed and the fire crystals will be lost. No heat is ever lost due a failed forging.

Additionally, players have the option to add more than the requisite fire crystals in order to improve the odds of a successful forge as well as the chance to gain a special bonus.

Fire crystals may be purchased in stacks in the Supply Depot, acquired via missions or found as loot in treasure blocks.

Use Sparks of Life to revive in combat and unleash a powerful energy blast, craft powerful weapons and gear with Orbs of Alchemy and level up your items and unlock special bonuses with the Forge. Best of all, all of these new items can be found within treasure blocks in the Clockworks!

Battle Sprites are new combat companions that all players can acquire by completing a new series of Rank 2 missions upon reaching Haven. These missions teach players about Battle Sprites and allow them to try out each of the three starter sprites before ultimately choosing one to keep.

The three starter Battle Sprites are the fiery Drakon, the divine Seraphinx, and the shadowy Maskeraith; each with their own unique powers that will become more powerful as the sprite levels up and evolves! Just remember to feed them materials or food crafted from the Lab so your sprite can level up faster, evolve and gain new skills.

Today, many exciting changes have arrived to Spiral Knights! These changes include the release of all-new missions, Battle Sprites and new rarity class items!

Your objective is to defeat the Grinchlins and their allies. This faction of Gremlins is very stingy and will not drop loot during battle. Their treasure is stored in shelters throughout the stronghold. Face a choice at each shelter - collect the loot and leave the mountain, or leave the treasure and continue further! Collect special materials from Mount Krampus to craft 5* Grinchlin weapons.

These shadowy beasts hunger for arcane power and are making another attempt to execute their nefarious plans. It appears that illiteracy is still rampant among the black kat hordes, so they have once more taken to eating the pilfered pages rather than using them for arcane rituals.

Collect Ancient Page tokens through the daily Prestige Mission, or as drops from black kat monsters in the Clockworks. Craft special Kat gear and the new Black Kat Seraphynx.
