This page is a definition for a colloquial gaming community term. As such, the following definition might not be consistent with real-world usage.
Many events, promotions, and lockboxes technically feature "recolored" items, and many items are technically "recolors" of each other, using the real-world use of the term.
In Spiral Knights, "recolor" specifically applies to items that use color patterns that are distinct from other color patterns in that the same types of items have been recolored in the same way several times.
Using these color patterns, items include:
Aesthetic content releases in this manner are so distinct that they have led to this colloquial use of "recolored" in the Spiral Knights Community.
The prize boxes for these promotions and events are usually named in relation to the relevant color pattern. The "Blooming Prize Box" and other box names are exceptions to this.
