What is a Hybrid?
A Hybrid is a knight that uses more than one type of weapon frequently, utilizing a variety of tactics that can complement other weapons. Hybrids use the unique abilities of weapon combinations to produce superior results.
Introduction
Being a Hybrid can be very fun due to the fact you can use many different weapon types. Each piece of gear a Hybrid carries must be able to correspond with all of his/her other gear. Hybrids are able to use their weapons to complement themselves and other players. However, it is reccomended that you read the other three guides (which include the Swordmaster Guide, Bombing Guide, and Gunslinger Guide) to know the tactics which are discussed herein.
Shields
One of the most useful items for any knight is his shield. It can save you from damage and let you escape from death in the thick of battle. Hybrids should familiarize themselves with the information in the Shieldbearer Guide and practice some of the techniques that shields allow you to use.
Aegis
The Aegis is a good shield for a Hybrid if they are on a tight budget. It has a good Normal defense and decent Piercing defense. The recipies leading up to the Aegis can be easily obtained by completing the missions.
Grey Owlite Shield
The Grey Owlite Shield is arguably the best shield for a Hybrid. It has a decent Elemental defense along with Fire and Shock resistance. It's recipies can be bought from Archilus in the Hall of Heroes.
Crest of Almire
The Crest of Almire is very similar to the Grey Owlite Shield, but trades Elemental defense for Shadow defense. It's predecessor, the Blackened Crest, can only be obtained by saving up 30 Almirian Seals which are obtained by defeating Vanaduke in the Firestorm Citdael and it's recipie can only be bought from Basil in the Depth 23 Terminal.
Omega Shell
The Omega Shell is a pure Normal defense shield. Although a decent shield, a shield with Piercing, Elemental, or Shadow will normally do better than it. It still has some uses though. It's recipies can be bought from Zebulon in the Hall of Heroes.
Armor
Armor is one of the most important types of gear for a Hybrid. Armor can provide a Hybrid with invaluble defense and offense boosts. It saves you from your mistakes or tight situations.
Azure Guardian
Azure Guardian armor is great for Hybrids that are on a cheap budget. It has a good Normal defense and decent Piercing defense. The recipies can be easily obtained from completing missions and it's materials are cheap.
Chaos
The Chaos set gives a universal CTR: Medium and Damage: Medium to all types of weapons. The downside, though, is that you take penalties to many statuses.
Divine
The Divine set is great for the Firestorm Citadel, but lacks normal defense. It does however have Elemental, Shadow, Fire, Shock, and Curse resistances. The recipies can be bought from Archilus in the Hall of Heroes.
Grey Feather
The Grey Feather set has the exact same stats as the Grey Owlite Shield which means Normal, Elemental, Fire, and Shock. The recipies can be bought from Archilus in the Hall of Heroes.
Mixed Skolver and Divine
Mixing the Skolver Coat and Divine Veil is a very famous combination. It gives decent defense to all 4 damage types and has resistances to some of the most important status effects.
